Just picked her up from FedEx and gave her a thorough once-over for integrity...now the fun starts...a full transformation is underway to take her from a bit of a hodge-podge pasture horse, to a full-on thoroughbred...

Lynsey R460 6Al-4V frameset, currently with Ultegra group and a 105 cassette, RS21 wheels, and Deda front end...with 23mm garden hoses...19.75lbs in that livery.

To come?

Super Record 11 w. 5 arm UT, a new 3T LTD fork, Neutron Ultras, 3T finishing kit, and a new decal set. Still deciding on which 60mm tubs to get for race day..

The goal is to be all cleaned up and on the road by mid-month, and I'm hoping to come in under 17lbs.

Stay tuned for the big reveal [emoji41]

I would skip the decals, but the rest sounds quite fantastic.

How about some king ti cages?

Decals would be the last to go on, so we'll see when I get closer. I'm thinking 3T glossy carbon cages to match the fork and the gloss of the SR cranks, etc. I may go with Bullet Ultra 50s instead of tubs also - or maybe in addition to.. The bike came with a second set-back Lynskey post that's bare and I'll likely use that if I can get enough insertion.

I can get behind the 3t cages but I would lean to ti, especially if you go with the ti post.

Yes yes and yes

Looking forward to this for ya

Decals could stay or go, I do like the raw look however.

Does the rider get a "makeover" too?

IMO swap the wheels for something sexier and you're there, but more power to ya.

Been working on that. Completed TrainerRoad Sweet Spot Base Mid-Volume I and High-Volume II, now into Sustained Build High-Volume. Not seeing big increases, but I'm definitely stronger coming out of the winter than usual.

Why the fork swap?

Is the replacement fork a good match rake and length wise?

I see your point. Still deciding about Ti vs Carbon on the post.

Any thoughts on Ti stems? Bad idea?

Bars and stems should be aluminium. Always. Except if they're carbon.

Personally never been into the aesthetic of plain ti SP/stem/cages on a plain ti frame. Unless of course I wanted the Blueman look for my road frame, which has an appeal which tends to blur out line, flow, contrast.

Now take those same ti components and put them with a Serotta 3/4 paint w/ ti rear triangle, or the same on a Tom Kellogg with masked out ti frame logos...

I would be tempted to go with a titanium stem but I've never used one so take that for what it's worth. I just love the ti frame, post, stem, cages look.

Wow, clean looking frame!

I think it needs a post with a little setback, hopefully that suits your position!

Yes, I need setback - it came with a second one that is ~25mm, but I'm concerned about insertion - it's only a 300mm post.

I'm curious why Ergott implies one shouldn't use a titanium stem. Flex?

I've used a 100mm 31.8 and found it nice. I used it simply for the matchy match of titanium frame and seat post.

Ti stems tend to cost a lot more and there's nothing wrong with a good old aluminium stem. I'm only half serious. If you don't mind the extra cost they're fine.

I'd bag the decals also. A riding buddy has a Lynskey and the decals do nothing for me. I purchased a Moots new and had them leave off the decals. I had Spectrum Powder Works do all but the rear in orange powder. Glad I never put on their decals. I did mount the head badge.

I'd dump the decals as well, especially on a Ti frame. In fact wish I could get rid of the decals on my bikes with the wave of my hand. And all the logos, too..

Started pulling off some bits that sold - that seat weighs ~350g! Makes me feel better about being able to get it in the 16lb range once built properly..

Took it out to ride an unsanctioned GPS-based hillclimb TT today. I forgot how large-tubed frames transmit noise, but other than that, it felt pretty dang good - even with the garden-hose tires, crap wheels, and no bar tape  Even PR'd a circus climb up the steepest road in Portland (not the TT course unfortunately) - in the wet and with a couple spin-outs .

NW Brynwood Lane? With that gearing? Is it a compact crank? Impressive indeed. I could not keep my front wheel on the road.

Yep. 52/36 and 11/32 (I think). It's a beast - for those who aren't in Portland, it's ~0.3mi, ~300ft gain, avg. 18% w some high 20s. KOM is 2:01 - mine was 5:18 including three spinout restarts.

I checked and it was a 28T in the back. I should be able to motor up it in the 34/29 Record I'll have under me shortly.
