Great read. Definitely seems that fame is wearing thin with him....has to be even harder given where he comes from.

Thanks for sharing, really enjoyable read. Very fitting based on my impression of him from the cycling side of things.

Interesting read. It explains a lot of what we have seen in him, both the good and the less good.

Great article. I've never been a big fan but have different perspective now having read this.

Interesting the stark contrast between Peter's successes and what his mom considers success.

Anxiously awaiting Flash's rebuttal ...

There's no need for a rebuttal when someone decides they want to dress like the lost Von Trapp sibling.

"When he comes in second after a six-hour race, he always behaves very decently in front of the cameras"

oh he does, huh?

Jesus Chic is in. If the messiah got around by bike ... what would he ride?

Being half Slovak, I can totally identify with the mothers attitude toward her sons chosen profession. To her, cycling is still just a hobby and he'd better have a real skill to fall back on when he gives up on this folly.

He was 23 years old when he pinched the bum. I can give him a youthful lesson learned. The guy has style for sure.

I agree. That pinched butt episode, the one and only scandal installment in the ongoing Sagan Saga, was unfortunate but as far as boneheaded youth goes, it is stupidity that was never repeated. So cut the guy a break and forgive and forget.

Mr. Sagan is a natural with his own sense of style and panache. Great for the image of pro cycling that the sense of joie de vivre is present rather than the conspiratorial paranoia the weighed upon the entire peloton as from another era.

That pinch of a podium butt really is old news. I can't for the life of me think why anyone here would mention that in this thread as it's been so long. I think maybe out of jealousy more so than offense.

I honestly see what he did to her was almost choreographed as it looked like a Kodak moment. So that would imply that there were three people involved in making that news, Sagan, podium girl and photographer.

ok, I need to look up the dictionary on that one...otherwise, well said, fuzz pal.

Edit: Hey...that's something I can subscribe to.

You mean people are still talking about that "episode"?
Borrringg.
When I think of my youth I did far more stupid (and dangerous) things than that.

I have to agree that this was, how shall I say it, an unfortunate fashion choice.
Heavy on the "unfortunate."

I think Sagan celebrity is owed, at least in part, to the bike handling skills he brought from mounting biking to road riding. Not that he really needs to bunny hop during a criterium race, but when he *does* bunny hop, or wheelie, or hop on his back wheel, jaws drop, etc. People remember that stuff. I know I do!

That seem to by the logical way in Slovakia to go from sport to politics. I remember Peter Stasny that went from Slovakia evading Ussr to NHL superstar and went back to Slovakia as politicians after his career.
