View Full Version : Modern classic silver alloy drop bar suggestions? 26.0mm clamp diameter

I'm building up a NOS Mondonico frame and fork that I recently acquired, using a 7spd Veloce group I pulled from my wife's Bianchi. (Silver Athena will come later, rest assured!)

I have a 3TTT Forma bar from that bike, and I can't stand the look of the drop bend. It's hideous....sorry, not my taste.

I was drawn to the Ritchey Neo-Classic, big time, but I'm only seeing it in 31.6mm clamp which I assume is that it's designed for modern EC34 headset/threadless stem use. Humbug.

I would love something with a more modern bend, to get a flatter-ish top leading to the brifter, while avoiding the un-sightly diagonal bottom angle you get with a truly classic bend when doing so.

42cm width, 26.0mm clamp
Regular reach, regular drop.

Any favourites I should strongly consider?

Deda Speciale I've liked a lot.

Cinelli Giro Ditalia reissue or criterium reissue.

There are a few 31.8 quill stems on the market, too. Nitto, factory five, some random eBay ones.

Thanks, icepick! I'm hoping to keep the classic front-end look for now, and really dig the 3TTT stem that I have.

Will ride the Deda Speciale for a bit and see how I like it. Now is the time to experiment, while i put some miles into the 7spd drivetrain.

Nice choice. My wife picked these out for her bike and I am jealous.

I would avoid the new versions of the Cinelli 26.0 bars. I tried a criterium re-issue and it was poor quality, flexy, creaky, and the finish caused it to constantly slip in the stem. Other than that, it was great.

Nitto does a good job. But the price on the Dedas is better.
