View Full Version : Stupid Poll of the Day - SR11+Quarq or 6800/9k on Moots

I bought a moots recently...an '03 compact SL...probably the only moots ive ever coveted...i have no need for another road bike but i didnt have any Ti on the hooks so...well, you know how it goes.

Now, the big decision!

Campy SR11 with a Quarq/SRAM Red crank

or

Shimano 6800 with a DA9k crank/Stages

Personally, I kinda like how the silver DA crank looks on a Ti frame but I feel like thats the only good argument for going shimano over campy here...
Oh, and you're probably wondering why I dont just use a SR11 crank...#watts, thats why ;)

So uh, hows about another round of the campy v shimano war eh gents?!
:hello::hello::hello:

What would you hang on your new moooooooooooooots?

On a moots compact size 59 there is only one choice and its campy! Personally i still visually prefer record 10.

Campy on Ti is so Paceline, so...

In terms of performance/weight:
Why SR11 vs 6800? They can't be equivalent in cost, can they? They aren't in any other way, besides the number of gears! I'm not big on integrated shifters honestly, di2 or bar ends here. So di2 gets my vote.

In terms of aesthetics:
Campy lost me at the 11s shifter. I think it's god-awful ugly. Advantage Shimano.

Just what I currently have on-hand haha, I spose 9k vs SR11 is a fairer comparison but I really dont feel like buying any more stuff to build this sucker up if I dont have to.

If the frame and crank are both BB/PF30, then SRAM crank, else Shimano everything.

I would do sr11 with the quark. Hell I would skip the power on this bike and go sr11 crank too.

I voted SR11 Quarq mostly because I love SR11

Did you happen to get that SL off Ebay recently for 999?
I was watching it but already have two (moots not SLs) so really couldn't justify bidding.

If you did - NICE SCORE!!!

I had the same thought...as I already have a SR11 crank as well...i am just thinking if i like it, I might take this rig to the alps in may...where power would be nice to have...could always swap cranks for the trip I guess, hmmm.

Really nice. That was a great deal! Certainly an if it fit, a must get. Too big for me so good for you! I have always been curious about those frames. I have ridden a lot of Ti but not 6/4. Enjoy!

Campy.

SR11+Quarq because if you're going to have a power meter, the quarq is nicer than the stages. But you can't really go wrong with either of those setups.

Funny, I almost threw a post up yesterday asking the same thing...but after some deliberation came to the following conclusions: (1) it's nice to have the same or interchangeable groups in your garage if possible, (2) power meters aren't my jam, and (3) life is short, ride Campy :D. So, since my soon-to-arrive Yamaguchi is dressed in Record 10, my soon-to-arrive Lynskey R460 frame is going to end up with the same, albeit in standard gearing to fit it's go-fast future and with some carbon tubulars...or maybe SR 10, just depends what I find. I've had fun toying with a PM the last few months, but I just don't think it's something I need in my life - and I have my own doubts and questions about how they impact training and heart health, but that's for another thread...

Man up and get the Campagnolo SRM power meter. 4 or 5-arm. Your choice.
