I apologize if this is a repost, but the search did not turn it up.

Meh. Just do what Hinault used to do: let him (or her) hang out in the breeze 50 to 100 meters off the front for about 100km and then leave him (or her) for dead when he (or she) finally cracks. ;)

Seriously, though, the best part is how much fun the dog is obviously having. "Oh, boy, look at all the friends I get to run with!"

I love that video. Unbelievable endurance on that dog, too. I took my dog out to a quiet road and clocked him at 24 MPH running alongside me, but he only kept it up for about a minute. Pro riders are probably going faster and that dude kept up for a good while.

Happens much too often - a valiant solo breakaway is eventually reeled in by the peleton.

But s/he clearly gave it her/his all, and went home with head (and tail) held high.

LOL yeah. Had a rat terrier run with me and a friend for about a mile or so on a gravel ride a while back, not in a threatening way but clearly in an "oh boy! You're running? I like running too! Let's all run!" We were moving at a decent clip and most dogs give up after a few yards, but he kept going... until he saw a squirrel.

Much more enjoyable than most of my encounters with dogs out in the boonies.

That dog is a natural bicycle loving canine. quite a few guys that mountain bike around here have escort dogs. if he was a stray, I hope he gets adopted by a mountain biker.

So much heart... she knows she won't be able to hold the breakaway, but still buries herself to put on a good show. A good dog, indeed.
