My back rim (Mavic SUP) had enough water in it to make a very noticeable sloshing.
Now, we used to secretly fill each others tubes with water before club races* but never, ever, in 30+ years have I had a rim hold water like this. Not even after riding through rivers.
*try it sometime. :D

uh... try riding in portland from october-june
I doubt there's a single wheelset in my garage that doesn't have 10oz of water in the rims. Tubular or clincher.

Really?
I'm from Wisconsin, ridden through many heavy rain storms but never had a rim fill up.
I've emptied out a good 8oz of water out of each wheel and another cup out of the frame after a 6 hour drive in the rain. Took me a bit too realize why the bike felt so heavy!

I drove to Maine one time years ago with my bike on a trunk rack. It rained much of the way. Not sure how it happened, but by the time I got there, there was water sloshing around in the tire that I had to empty out.

bumping this to look for advice on how to get the water out?
i just rode home in a flash flood warning worthy storm in boston, and when i rolled my bike into my house the sound i heard made me think i had just visited that water planet from interstellar.

Remove tire tube and rim strip. The water will come out. Let it air dry for a while and you are good to go. If you have alloy nipples a drop of oil on top of each nipple will help reduce potential corrosion.
From my experiences rims with internal nipples are far worse for this.
