G'Day all, nice blizzard here in Ottawa!
Quick question, I'm considering an ebay purchase for around $4k, what would the fees for the seller be on that? Haven't sold anything in years on ebay, only bought!
Thanks

On cycling stuff 10% on final fees. + 10% on shipping as well these days.

So if we exclude shipping since we dont have that info he would pocket 3600 minus paypal fees.

I am pretty sure he is asking about the final transaction fee, not the initial listing fee.

eBay's cut on that $4k sale would be 10%, i.e., $400.

Just curious why the buyer would need to be concerned about the fees? eBay doesn't allow the seller to pass those along to the buyer.

Unless I am understanding the question incorrectly.

Sure, though the question (at least how it was posed by the OP) was about eBay fees specifically (Paypal spun out of eBay in 2015, so they're technically now separate entities).

I assume (perhaps wrongly) that if the bike is for sale locally or at another trade post it can give an idea of what the seller needs/wants to get for his bike.

Sure, though the question (at least how it was posed by the OP) was about eBay fees specifically (Paypal spun out of eBay in 2015, so they're technically now separate entities).Yes, you don't *have* to use Paypal anymore, but *most* do. There can be insertion fees and lord knows what else, especially with possible international fees somewhere in the fine print. The sellers feedback score can also enter into the equation. Shipping also gets a 10% fee.

Certain ads have fees attached to them as well.

MY GOOD PAL has been in San Diego for 2 weeks. He took off for his home in Ottawa at 11:30am. Nice timing, huh?
