I've never been a fan of riding with a billed cap under my helmet. Just not for me. But I've recently switched to a helmet that is shaped different in the front than what I was accustomed to. The specialized prevail had enough front lip to almost shield the sunlight between the helmet and my glasses. The protone does not come out as far ad let's a lot more sunlight into my glasses.

I'm looking for a possible cap with a very very minimal lip. Almost to a point that there is no bill. Not sure if they make such a thing. Everything I've seen in bike shops are more than I'm looking for. Would love to find something rhat has a .5 inch or smaller bill.

Any ideas?

There are several US-based ebay sellers listing home made caps as a hobby business. I got several from hernandez9196 in LA, made to order (size, fabric, style) after contacting her. The bills are already pretty small, but I'm sure she could make you exactly what you want, especially if what you want is a dia de los muertos theme- everybody needs one of those...

Warm weather or cold? If cold weather, maybe this: http://www.giro.com/us_en/ambient-skull-cap.html

Funny timing. I just got the new air net, and it comes with a very small cotton brim that inserts into the helmet.

I love riding with a cap when it is coolish, but not when it is hot. This may be just the ticket for you as it is a very small brim.

Not my pic, but what it looks like:

thats still more of a bill than I'm looking for. I essentially want it to be unnoticeable. Just enough to come out to the edge of the helmet or just a hair bit past.

bianchi, what prompted the switch to the Protone?

Just a thought....bring whatever cap you like to an alteration place, have them cut it to the shape and profile that you want and sew it back up....

I own a Catella cap that has a brim that only extends out 50mm from the cap...very nicely made by a Paceliner too.

bianchi, what prompted the switch to the Protone?

It is super comfortable. Since the first time I tried it on, it is the most comfortable helmet I've ever tried on. Now that ive worn it on several rides, it is still super comfortable, but it is taking more time than I'd like to get accustomed to how much lower the retention system sits on the back of my head. One ride, I had it a hair too tight and it gave me a pressure point headache. I like the look of it, but there are times I have missed my prevail.

Maybe check out the "stubby" caps at Rivendell (sorry--can't figure out how to include image). See the 2nd image on this page:

I think Rivendell may sell a cotton version? Randi Jo of randijofab.com makes them.

Pace coolmax mini visor
Twin six coolmax slightly longer than mini visor
Sugoi wool earflap mini visor
Showers pass event mini-enough visor

That's what I have. Cap under helmet every ride. Pace has my favorite mini visor, it's the mini-est and just right. I think rothera also does mini visors, and of course cima coppi will build what you want.

This is the BEST winter cap i have found, thin, warm, little brim, back flap can go down to keep ears warm, or up if it warms up. If it is colder then i layer it with another this synthetic skull cap. Love it!
