You guys were so helpful last time (that I asked the same question on a different set), so here you go again.

Can you ID these?

Many thanks in advance.

I'd guess either Chorus or Athena. Record hubs would have a circular clip over the oil hole. Lower level groups typically didn't have a polished finish (and the lowest level groups used cartridge bearings, which have very different dust seals).

Campagnolo 8spd freehubs were made starting in 1991, and were phased out by 1999. You might want to peruse some of the Campagnolo catalogs of that era to see if you can match them:

If the skewers are original, they look later Chorus 8 hubs. I think the Athena hubs were basically identical but had a cheaper skewer nut.

I think they maybe "Nuovo Tipo" hubs. Built a number of wheels using these hubs while working in a bike shop in the late 1960s and early 1970s.

Hmm, I am pretty sure they are not that. 8 speed cassette and all.

Not sure what the deal is with the skewers, but all in all Athena seems the most plausible. These were part of a "Racing T" (triple) group.

If the skewers came with the hubs, I'm saying 1996 or later Athena. 1996 was the first year for the skewer nut with two flats. Earlier ones were tapered and knurled. My guess is the Athena nut was steel and the similar looking Chorus nut was aluminum, at least in 1996. Chorus hubs always had the oil port clip in the cassette hub era though. Take a close look at the front hub and see if it says Athena in the center section. If it does, I'd say it's 1997-9. I have a NOS Athena front hub here with the two flat steel skewer nut and unlabeled hub shell. Unfortunately the box doesn't have the round model year sticker on it. I have the box for another Athena hub that has a '98 sticker. I'm 90% certain that hub shell is engraved "Athena" in the center of the shell, but can't find it at the moment. 1998-9 Athena rear hub was nine speed and the skewer nuts were plastic, Proton/Daytona/Centaur style. So my best guesses:

1996 Athena: two flat steel nut, no model name, 8 speed rear
1997 Athena: two flat nut (unknown material but likely steel), 8 speed rear, not sure about model engraving.
1998-9 Athena: plastic nut, model name on front hub (I think), 9 speed rear.

Mark, I was pretty sure the last year or so of Chorus lost the oil clip but I could be wrong. You are right on the skewer however. I totally blanked on the steel skewer nut. I was only thinking about the plastic one. If th ones in question are steel, the Athena is likely. If they are alloy, then I am voting Chorus.

Yeah, I was thinking of the steel axle hubs. No oil clip on Chorus from 1999 on, when the OS rear hub was introduced.

Athena nut was for sure steel at least for one year. May have changed to AL before switching to plastic but without a NOS one in the original box with date sticker I don't know how to tell. I guess I should look at the parts catalogs.

1996-7 Athena nut: QF-AT005 (steel, two flats)
1996-9 Chorus nut: QF-CH105 (AL, two flats)
1998 Athena nut: QF-AT105 (plastic, twisted flats) Also used on 1998 Zonda, after 1998 the nuts aren't listed as a separate part from the complete skewer - part of Campagnolo's follow Shimano marketing plan.
