I remember seeing a write up on taking this to another level as far as detail but I cannot find it.
Does anyone have a link to something like this?

Tom Kellog's method is pretty awesome. I'll see if I can find a video.

Try this one. Only one I could think of, off hand. Not sure if it works with 'regular' type tape.

Thank you. This is about what I have done for years. Works looks decent and never fails.
However, I have seen some people really take to to an art level and I wanted to try to do a little better!

I do that, too, now. Learned it here. Works great.

So you put a small section on under the finish, roll it back and tape it?

I use a 5cm (2") piece if inner tube (700 25c) that I slide up the handle bar. You have to remove the brake levers, but only once. I run the tape over 1/2 of the piece of tube then fold the tube back over the tape. You have to run the cables under the tube. It gives a very clean finish. You can put the finish tape that comes with the bar tape if you wish or some coloured electrical tape.

Thanks. That was what I thought. Nice finishing technique.

I do the "stretch the electrical tape just a bit" to finish the end. Then a lap of untensioned tape so it's even. I realized as I read the posts that this is mainly because most of the tape I did was re-wraps of customer bikes, therefore I wanted to get it done in 3-5 minutes if possible. This precludes too much extra effort. Plus for a while I put new tape on my bike almost weekly and basically detailed my bike nightly. Now? I haven't put new tape on my bike since sometimes in 2014, although I've tried to neaten up the tape on there a few times.

Thank you very much. This is a level of detail I have not myself attempted. I will however use this to guide my new Rapha/Cinelli tape.
