Many thoughr I was crazy for selling my Weigle and they maybe right. It never felt right under me and a good bike is one that gets ridden.

Was so close to buying a carbon bike but just could not pull the trigger. I had to replace the weigle with something cool and differenr and thai damn bike was in my head for a few months. I am not a fan of ISPs but I make an exception to a few builders and English is one of them.

Thanks fedex foe just leaving this bike sitring outside in brooklyn for 6 hours. I think the fedex guy made up a name and signed it himself because I dont know that person that supposedely lives in my building ( and would not bring the box in apparently). Fed ex will get a call on monday.

Anywyas here it is. The fit looks good, hoping I can get my saddle back enough because I like a bot of setback but looks ok. The tubbing is amazing, every tube is shapped, aero dt, aero st and the TT is crazy cool. The pencil thin seatstays are fantastic and super fat chain stays to stiffen it all up.

The brazing is very nice too and I love the color. Enve blaxo decals arrived feom kookies and thirdgenbird agreed with me that it will be 2015 chorus theoughout. EE brakes and ritchey cockpit.

So excited about this one. Pics in galery when fully built.

Cannot wait to see more photos of this one.

There's just something about his aesthetic that really does it for me. Incredible.

Gotta love FedEx on that one! Ha! BEAUTIFUL bike! Can't wait to hear how it rides!

Well, you are forgiven now ;-)

Love love love the thin seatstays and the wishbone split.

Is it flat blue with white? Lots of cool color combos available with that one.

Can't wait to see the build and congrats!

Wow, better than the original picture. I love everything about it. As suspected, the chorus crank also looks great.

Now you need those bora 35s...

There was a set of 50 tubulars for sale here in the forum the other day.. but I agree. It looks spectacular..

Curious what the geo is like. STA looks slack enough.

thanks guy! Really excited about this one (but I say this about all my bikes haha)

@Tickdock - It is not super flat but also not super shiney. Its kind of a teal, its a real cool color, not gonna lie :)

@thirdgenbird - Would love Boras but just can't spend that cash right now. I am going to build me some nice alloy wheels (hed belgium or eastons or velocity quills if they ever release them), maybe the boras will be in my future

@hollowgram5 - Didn't even see those boras and that is a good thing :hello:

@Mzilliox- send me some boras or those hyperons ahha

@wai2fast - the box was sitting on my steps for hours on end, brooklyn is pretty safe right now but man, that would have been such a good score for a thief ahha

@denapista - can't wait to see yours. you went with isp? carbon?

@guido - will be a roado ahah, but it clears 28s so at least I got some cushion

@jtbadge - ST angle is 73. My spooky is 73.5 but I run an enve post. This post has a bit of setback but more like 10. I will have to put my saddle back a tiny bit.

I will take some better pictures soon, specially of the tubes and stays because they are really spectacular. Still waiting on my levers from ribble but should be here next week.

Bike is not like Robs crazy weight weenie bikes (which is good because I am not a tiny guy) but it will come out to 16.5 lbs without any crazy part and thats good enough for me

I think it's been around 20 months. I think he had his deposit in right before English got into that accident.

Really nice, congrats. Crazy tiny seat stays on a bike that size but I guess that means there isn't a lot of stress on them.

I'd imagine that seat tube is rather stiff, so the seat stays would only be there to support the chainstays/dropouts from bumps in the road and to mount a brake on.. but that's just a guess..

R3awak3n
01-28-2017, 05:23 PM
what hollowgram said. previews owner said bike is very stiff and reading from English site :

Following on from the rear triangle discussion above, if we have a nice stiff set of chainstays triangulated across the rear axle, then the seatstays are just there to provide a ‘prop’ for this structure under vertical loads. This means that the seatstays are only loaded in compression. The failure mode for a tube under a compressive load is buckling – and steel tubing has a very high resistance to buckling. Therefore I can select very small and light tubing for this part of the structure, whilst maintaining the rear triangle stiffness required.

We will see how it rides :). Also the frame looks bigger than it actually is, virtual TT is only 56.7. It looks large because of the head tube which is 196mm

dcama5
01-28-2017, 06:26 PM
It sure looks great and I have seen other frames with seat stays like that. Good luck with it! 56.7 TT... man, that's my size!

R3 pal, nice replacement to your Weigle, something different like you said. Get it built and on the road quick...

R3awak3n
01-29-2017, 07:01 AM
yeah it is quite a different bike.

reason I went for something like this is because I am thinking of selling my other road bike as well and just have 1 road bike.

that said, I am having second thoughts about selling my other roadie and might just keep 2 around :)

Keep them both. I don't think the English alone is enough to keep you warmth at night. :D

I vote sell the other and use the funds to buy some killer carbon wheels for this bike and maybe a second wheelset for the adventure bike. Two bikes with four wheelset a prepped for different conditions would cover you nicely.

Bora, corma, lightweight...

ahha, yeah I like that idea and may happen eventually. I would still want a nice alloy wheelset so I am going to build one and then eventually get some carbon ($$$ is the problem, I won't buy used carbon because of what happened to my enves, I want the warranty)

Totally with you. Get an everyday alloy set now and bora 1s if/when you sell the spooky. Maybe go with the 50s to contrast the alloy wheelset

I think that is the move, to go with a more aero wheel. But not sure I would pick the boras. I do think are sweet wheels but I do prefer a more traditional lacing pattern (even though the boras are a much better deal than comparable enves or zipps for example)

Did you get a facilitator for this? Looks AWESOME. I thought about driving down myself. Just such a sweet bike and the price was right. Did he have it listed on the bay as well?

Love it. Can't wait for full build pics.

No facilitator and yes, I first saw it on ebay but it did not sell. It was a pretty fair price on ebay, complete but I ended up just buying the frame/fork/hs since I wanted to build campy. He also did not mind because he wanted the parts for another bike.

I can't wait to build it but I think I am at last a couple weeks out from that.

I was at his studio a few months ago to get a fitting and talk about my frame. Such a cool guy.

I asked him to bring that baby blue bike out specifically. It's been my dream bike for years, when I saw it at NAHBS. I honestly should have asked him if I could buy it, but I'm sure he keeps all of his builds for nostalgia reasons.
