Nice ride with teammurray today. Steel Friday. About 20 miles in we rode with a guy on a paramount.

California freezing (45-50d and sunny)

Nothing rides like a steel fork.

Looking nice! That blue serotta with the OP ceramics is all business, no frills. Love it.

Nice!

Although I'd rather have an Atlanta. I'm still trying to decide if this one is real enough for the price.

I was so close to buying a carbon bike but in the end I just could not do it. Replaced steel with more steel.

maybe just a case of personal preference, but owning a Ridley Helium, a Legend Ti and a pre 87 Colnago Super (steel) ...all equipped similarly (DA and Ultegra) wheels (R-Sys and carbon tubbies)
I find them each unique, meeting different needs...the Helium is fast and quick but not as comfortable as the Legend Ti (also fast and very stable) and unfortunately, the steel 'Nago, although beautiful and slightly less comfortable than the Ti, is slow...weighing 3-5 pounds more than the other bikes!
So in the end, for me, it depends on what my ride is that day and because the steel Colnago generally lags behind in key areas, it generally is ridden much less, in fact it will probably go on the block soon...

Agreed.

I picked up my 2nd CSI last summer off of our local CL.

It was set up as a single speed and it fit me perfectly.

I've fallen head over heels in love with the bike.

The CF fork has seen its better days, so I am starting to shop for a new one.

Perhaps I'll call Dave Anderson this week....

It may feel slow but 3-5 pounds is really only going to make a different on longer climbs.

I have a climb that I do 5 minute vo2max style intervals on and I once tested my 17 pound Specialized Allez with carbon wheels against my 22 pound RB-1 7 speed with DT shifters. My best time was with the RB-1.

I am on board with this.. I've got three steel frames with steel forks. I keep thinking about swapping the fork on my fillet brazed bike for an Easton Ec90 SL carbon fork, but can never bring myself to do it. Now that fork is tentatively sold!

That's a ridiculous price. I'm selling a CSI 58x58 full bike with DA 7800 for $1,050 plus shipping from 78703. Has a brand new Ritchey carbon fork and brand new CK headset.

If I remember correctly Serotta Catalog said: Atlanta offers 85% of CSi performance for 65% of the price. Given that, I wonder why anyone would prefer an Atlanta over a CSi if all else, like condition, price, fit, is equal. I think CSi lugs were a little nicer too.

Perhaps I'll call Dave Anderson this week....I had Dave Kirk build a fork for my CSi, with the period-correct sloping crown (but no pantograph). Figured I would keep it in the family, so to speak.

^ Such a beautiful sight (the Colorado and the Vanilla).

It's off to Hot Tubes for a respray:

That is certainly a real sweet frame, albeit priced high. The seller, a shop has been listing it for a couple of years always a bit out of reasonable pricing IMHO.

Good idea.

I'll think on that, for sure.

I just picked up a 10 speed Chorus groupset yesterday.

Plenty of wheelsets around here.

It'll take on a new personna soon enough.

Serotta put out a serious coffee table grade catalog at the time the Atlanta was introduced. I ended up with a Ritchey Road Logic that year, but figured I'd come back Serotta eventually.

bluesea -- Yep, it's been on the 'bay for a while...and it IS a very nice looking frame. You could always make them an offer and maybe they are tired of it sitting there.

I forgot you had this CSi. What a great bike and paint aesthetic. That Dave made a new fork is just a perfect story ending. need to see it rebuilt once finished.
I suspect all green fork but would be fun to mock up green upper white lower to see how it looks.

BTW...people...I'm not a retro grouch. would love an eTAP Sarto with campagnolo crank/chain/cassette/wheels.

It's time for me to chime in on my Blue Serotta.

It's a '88 or '89 Nova Special. It started life with a fluorescent pink paint job. I bought it as a frameset from Performance. In 2005, when I had it repainted, I called Serotta for decals. They had no record of the serial number and claimed to have never sold any bikes through Performance. Ben chimed in and said there were a few frames that were sold through Performance in the late 80's.

The details of this vintage received trickle down from the Colorado and Colorado II. The frame has the fastback binder stays, S-shaped chainstays, scalloped brazing attachment of the dropouts, and sleek fork crown.

The frame is the standard 57cm road geometry of the day. 56cm TT, 73d STA and 73.5d HTA. It looks slack in the picture due to the angle and distortion.

These bikes appear to be sized identically.

Did you entertain an exchange?

Maybe he's feeling "blue" and you're feeling "black" for a change.
