I heard rumblings of a new wide (27mm?) and deep aluminum rim or wheelset that didn't weigh a ton that was coming out soon.

Anyone recall what the brand is?

Possibly the new one from November?

That's the rim thank you!

I'm very interested in a wider aero rim with matching wide tires.

Not sure how wide a tire you are thinking but there are safety issues to consider with tire width and inner rim width.

Can't look for the link right now but there charts showing compatibility between tire/rim width that was put out by a saftely group in Europe.

Not wider than the rim for maximum aero benefit.

I've seen that chart before for sure.

Looks just like zipp 101s.
I have a set of 101s great wheels, just cost to much, but ride great and definitely aero . More so than some low end carbon

Looks a lot like the Flo 30 (http://www.flocycling.com/wheels_flo_30_rim.php) -- but 100g lighter per rim...

The Zipp 101 was only 30mm deep, and a maximum width of 24mm - these rims are deeper and wider. According to the November Bicycles, it is an AForce AL33 rim. Here's the Kickstarter page for the rim development:

Well the design is the same toradal shape, the 2.5 mm difference is really nominal.
I was sold on the 101s and love them best aluminum wheel made to date.
At the cost to manufacture the shape zipp could not realize a profit they were happy with. (My belief ) and stopped production.

I'd be interested in these if I went back to aluminum and the price was right. Comparable to other options in aluminum, albeit the top end of that segment.

I still believe the 101s or these "if produced and of equal quality " would be a better option than cheap carbon with poor breaking.

those novembers are cool but still long ways till they are released.
Kinlin has a 30mm deep rim that weights like 480g, so thats pretty good.

These aren't too far off from Hed Plus rims, minus the toroidal shape. I suspect it doesn't make much of a difference at this depth.

I think the toradal shape is the difference, I've had the hed wheels not as fast, I called the 101s stealth aero

We've helped to arrange a wind tunnel test at A2 on February 9th, in which a range of current alloys and some reference carbon will be compared. We'll all know more after that.
