I'm thinking of getting a set of new farsports carbon wheels (38mmx23mm) but my older (2006) campy record brakes seems to be a non cartridge replaceable type and cannot open wide enough to accommodate wider (25mm+) rims.

Does anyone know which "full type" carbon rim brake pads will work for the older campy brakes? Maybe the SwissStop Flash Pro full type? I just want to be certain before I pull the trigger. TIA!

A pic (not mine) of the said brakes and rim pads:

The wheelset I was planning on getting:

All Campagnolo Record brakes (including your 2006 model) use brake pad holders with replaceable pads. Are you sure you have the original brake pad holders? These brake pads holders may appear to have non-replaceable pads because they do not come out easily. The pads must be pried out, and a bit of force may be required to slide the new pads in.

Except for recent lower model brakes, Campagnolo has not changed the basic shape of their brake pads since 2000, so any current Campagnolo compatible pads should fit your 2006 Record brakes. That being said, many carbon wheel manufacturers require you to use their specific brake pads, and quite often their brake pads are only available in a Shimano compatible version. Some people have been successful using Shimano-type brake pad holders on Campagnolo brakes, but for full compatibility, you can use the brake pad holders that now come with lower end Campagnolo brakes - these pad holders (and included hardware) are fully compatible with Campagnolo calipers, but use Shimano style pads. A set of 4 Veloce pads & holders costs about $30 new (available in both black and silver).

I am currently using a set of Record brakes of the same model in the picture, with the original pads and pad holders. They easily clear 25 mm wide rims (HED Jet 6+), and can probably work with a rim a few mm wider.

Thanks Mark McM for the info! I do have the original brake pad holders but did not know that they can be pried out. I will look into getting some lower end campy brake pads and holders in order to use the required specific brake pads for the carbon rims.
