One is purchasing items in Federal Reserve Notes. Not Dollars.

Thus one must ask, What is the purchasing power of the frn?

One must look at both the Ti market and how the frn is continuously
diluted.

In Dollars, gas is 16 cents/gallon. it's 3 frn/gallon.

The 3200 frn Legend frame will eventually hit 32,000 frn in 30 years.
In 60 years 320,000 frn.

Ahneida, in reading your signature it looks like you and I are both dollar bears. Can I interest you in some gold and a warrant pegged to a declining dollar?

and maybe this goes, somewhat, to the TiDesigns question too:

Can the CdA, or at least the all-steel one, be insulated from price increases having to do with Titanium and CF price increases? I mean, these are not inexpensive, and I realize that that I'm not addressing Serotta's costs at all (of which I'm ignorant in any case), but it seems to me that there's something cool about the fact that, as frame prices climb and climb, a company like Serotta still offers a top quality, raceable, custom frame at under 2k (or just about 2k with a fork, and a one-color paint job anyway). I don't know whether Ben can or cannot afford to do it, and I don't for a second mean to tell him his business, I just think it'd be a shame to see this niche in the frame market go away.

the price of plastic - um, carbon fiber - has increased. I heard that the Dreamliner and A350 (which use a lot of plastic) are increasing demand and thus, price. it could be rampant speculation.

I purchased a CIII 3 years ago. If I were to purchase a CdA now, counting the increase in frame price, painting and components, I would pay between $500-$600 more. In just 3 years! Incredible.
