I spent some time at the local bike co-op to finish tearing down my Yamaguchi for the transition to the world of Campagnolo. Every winter needs a project, right?

A bare frame:

looks good. Get the BB and the head tube faced. The paint and rust will prevent the BB and headset from siting square.

Excited for this.

Did you get the proper crank fixing bolts?

Not yet, but there's still time . . .

A big part of my excitement today stems from the fact that this is the first time I have had the bike stripped all the way down to the frame. So interesting to inspect the details as I cleaned.

Perfect time to use a high end polish and wax. Keep up with a quick detailer after that and the bike will look amazing.

I would also spurge for the proper Campagnolo cable stops. It's a small detail but just looks right. They are also more useful than the shimano ratchet style stop.

Great tips--I'm planning to give it a serious clean before dressing it up again.

Are these (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Campagnolo-shift-barrel-adjusters-frame-braze-on-mount-cable-stop-/182417515231?hash=item2a78ee62df:g:lAYAAOSwhqJYWwo x) the cable stops you mentioned?

Yep, those are the ones. Easy to adjust on the fly and they just look right.

Good advice. I hadn't considered doing this, but it makes a lot of sense.

I have proper crank fixing bolts AND proper washers. Let me know if interested. $30 shipped to ya.

Yes, prep frame to include chasing all threads, der hanger, DT brazeons, bottle bosses...
