Any good recommendations for V-Brakes for my touring bike?

I'm currently set up with TRP's CX-8.4 and I'm not digging them.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Are you looking for long-pull v-brakes or another mini v-brake?

What didn't you like about the CX8.4s?

Agree, what didn't you like? the TRP 8.4 are basically "mini-v" type brakes, so if you don't like the stopping power, perhaps the cheapest fix is to try new pads? Try something like the kool-stop salmon pads. Those work pretty good.

If you must replace, take a look at Paul minimotos. But they should perform the same as the TRP 8.4, so I'm not sure spending the extra $$$ will make that much difference.

It will be crucial to know what kind of brake levers you are using.

I think another mini-v would be appropriate.

TRP...I don't care for them compared to my Paul Minimoto's, which wouldn't mesh w/ the build.

I was thinking about running Motolites, any thoughts?

PS - Running a Shimano 105 5703 Triple STI Shifter.

You'll be pulling too much cable for MotoLites. You're not going to want to run a full V brake with STIs.

TRP CX9s might work better than the 8.4s with your levers - they are in between 8.4s and a 'real' V-brake in length.

Gotcha, thanks for that info. I love stuff from Paul so I'm glad you mentioned it before I bought some.
