My girlfriend and I are travelling to California in March for 3 weeks and want to hire some good bikes we can use to cycle parts of the Pacific coast and other area's of the state. Any recommendations of places that have good bikes ?

Had a great experience with Synaptic Cycles in LA last spring. Have another friend that has rented with them multiple times.

Sports Basement rents pretty good bikes but at $60/day, it may not be your most economical option. I'm aware of a bike sharing program here where you can rent personally owned bikes too (likely for less money than Sports B) though I can't remember the name. I'll post again if I can dig it up.

Spinlister is the name: https://www.spinlister.com/

You can reserve bikes in advance, coordinate delivery/pick-up, etc. Good luck and don't hesitate to reach out if you would like advice on some local routes.

You can find MANY threads on this subject in the archives.
What kind of riding do you want to do? Where will you land/take-off?

Rapha Cycle Club is a good deal in SF. $200/year for membership and you can rent very high end Canyons for ~$10/day for 3 days at a time.

There's another club opening in Santa Monica soon too I believe.

I rented from here when I was riding around the Santa Rosa area.
Sent them my measurements and they set the bike up and delivered to my hotel.
Was very satisfied.
