I think the photos here are remarkably telling about each model of brake and differences in clearance among them all. Looks like the good old BR-600 from Shimano do the best. Got any?

Good info. Wish he'd included the low cost Miche and Ambrosio calipers in the comparison.

I tried a well stretched bon jon with the 559 caliper and it actually rubbed the bottom of the caliper (older blue BMC road). I do have a set of TRPs waiting for a home so I may need to give them a shot and re-try the compass fatties.
Saying that I'm wondering if that new flat crown fork has better clearance than the older blue fork
