Recommendations for Hand Pump for Road Bike?

I want something that can be fitted onto the bike, not too large, good quality and deliver a maximum of 110psi.

Thoughts?

Fitted onto a bike. Why not a frame pump ?

Such as.. the Topeak Master Blaster

Might as well go full size. Works better. Looks nicer [emoji14]

I like this Lezyne Road Drive (http://www.lezyne.com/product-hpumps-hp-rddrive.php#.WHfY3lMrJhE) (large size), but mine is modified and mounted on pegs. But, I have mounted it with the included bracket on the seat tube water bottle mount (under bottle cage) on my MTB. If you want a frame pump a Silca or Topeak are safe bets.

here's what i do with my topeak road morph, strap it to the seat tube between the seat stays.

does your frame have pegs to hold a pump? theres like a million choices. i also use the lyzene mentioned, works fine. ai have a park tools one that also works fine. neither are as nice as the floor pump, but both can get me 90psi and back on the road pretty quick like. why 110psi? does anyone even pump your tires that much? i think lots can do 110, or say they can, but why?

what Mzilliox said. lezyne road drive or just a good old frame pump are the only way to fly, in my book. and I would recommend looking into lower pressures as well. depending on your weight, you should be able to get by on less than 110, even if it's just to get home. I don't go above 90 ever, for road tires.

Senile - can you provide closer up pics of this pump mounting arrangement?

Frame pumps have fallen out of fashion of sort, I can understand why. So I have gotten at least half a dozen of Topeak Master Blaster and Zefal HPX donated to the local co-op and use them on my fat tire (>28mm) bikes. I still have the Lezyne mini road pump that I attach to my go-fast road bikes but truth be told, whenever I have the opportunity to use the full size frame pump, it reinforces the fact that they are the right tool for the job and anything smaller is really just my vanity. :D

the mount is what comes with the pump, it's meant to be either screwed into a bottle mount, or zip-tied around a tube. i'm tall enough that i can sneak it in between the rear tire and the seat tube, and still have clearance under my saddle.

Here are my Lezynes mounted on a couple of my bikes. The quality of their pumps is very good and you can put 110psi+ in a tire, not that I can imagine why anyone would run that much pressure. Their design using a small hose makes pumping so much easier and really eliminates the chance of breaking a valve.

I had for years a Quicker Pro mini-pump, fantastic pump, could do up a tire I swear as fast as a floor pump. Finally broke so I searched for a new one and discovered it's now being sold (though still manufactured in Sweden apparently) by Pedro's, the Madame mini-pump. No idea why that name other than because it's so wonderfully effective at blowing (up) a tire :) I suppose. Super small, comes with some sort of gizmo to attach it to the frame but I've never used that since I ride with a small fanny pack that it fits in perfectly. About the only improvement I could imagine for the pump would be a hose but then again I'm not sure that would add much to it. Super pump, never ceases to amaze me at how fast it pumps. Some sort of double-chamber affair, pumps on both strokes, they claim good for pressures I haven't dreamed of attaining, like maybe 130 psi or whatever. I'm down around 50 psi so for me super fast pumping. Anyway, if you want a good, light, compact and efficient pump, Pedros Madame is what you want.

Leyzyne Pressure Drive: about the length of a cell phone. Disappears in back jersey pocket. Gets you back on the road - no problem.

Silca..either frame or mini

That short and without a hose that seems to be a broken or bent valve waiting to happen. Not the case?

I still use my ancient 24" Silca, but it would seem those shorties would be difficult to handle steadily.

yikes..

i rode 4300 miles across the country with it like that, trust me, not a problem as long as your velcro strap isn't gunked up when you try to close it.

Hold the pump with you fingers of your left hand, wheel/hand against your leg and pump with right hand..done this for years, never damaged a valve.

Let's be fair. Most people rush the pumping up part of a flat change. That's how you bust valves. If you wanna be quick. Co2 it. With a hand pump...take your time and you shouldn't run into any bent valve issues. I've been using a medium sized hand pump for the past few years. EVO brand. Never had any issues.

Yeah, I'm sure it's a sound design. But, I like the short hose on my pump. I'm thinking of instances where you don't remove the wheel such as topping off the tubeless tire after a puncture.

Yea. I like the lezyne hose. However. Friend had a valve tip break off. While threaded to the thing. Haha. Sure that's a rare thing to have happen.

Fair point. I've never needed one but I'm going to start keeping a valve core or two in my flat kit.

I've been happy with this specialized. I've got two of them. Simple, clean design, and cheap. They also have a shorter version that would be good for pocket use but I opted for the longer one. Oh, they had it in polished too.

They don't fit on people's aero bikes.
