Would I regret selling this bike?

Vintage 1989 Pinarello Gavia all original minus the tires and pedals.

I purchased this about 10 years ago from the original owner that had only ridden it roughly 500 miles. I currently use this as my Sunday nice weather rig when I feel nostalgic.

What other bikes do you have that get more action? If you have to ask, it might be a sign to keep it. ;)

Is it your size? Pretty much a dream retro ride if it is!

I think the amount of regret would be inverse to the selling price:beer:

It sees the road, which I'm guessing is a weekly occurrence? Hang on to it. You'll miss it, especially if you like looking at it, too.

"Would I regret" is always one of those questions I believe only you have the ultimate say in.

If you like the bike all cool, but if you are really needing the money and ready to move to more modern stuff just let it go... the thing is this... with bike sure we are always regretting selling one or two if not more.

When i retired cycling i sold everything and i regret selling at least one of the track frames and a few wheels and cranks. :/ with bike sold here in the states, the max ones :/

If you have to ask you already know the answer.

Certainly a beautiful bike. But personally, I've never regretted selling a bike. If this Pina were made custom for you during a trip to Treviso....that's a different story.

If you need the money, then sell it.

If you don't need the money and you still ride it, however infrequently, then keep it.

Could you get more pleasure from any other object or activity that you can only afford by selling this bike? It's not likely to depreciate any more. Do you have plenty of storage space?

Yes. Put those brakes in a display case, replace them with dual pivots and you will never again consider such ridiculousness.

Absolutely keep it.

I've also never regretted selling a bike.

If you need the money, it doesn't fit, you need the space, or it's redundant get rid of it.

I also agree that if you get a ton for it it'll make the sting of selling easier to manage

If you have ever been kicked in the chestnuts hard, really hard, and didn't mind it, then you should be okay to sell.

I am currently dealing with a similar problem, want to sell my JP Weigle but a lot of people telling me not to sell it. I thought hard on it for a bit and I know I will miss it but new bikes will come. Want to try different materials, different geos, different brands, why not.

Like jtakeda said,

"If you need the money, it doesn't fit, you need the space, or it's redundant get rid of it. "

What he said. I really regret selling 2 MXLeaders.

I think it depends on what you can get for it. People always say someone is worth a bunch of money.....but they won't pay that much.

Have never regretted selling a frame....but have regretted selling parts to clear out room. Always sometime later....have a need or use for that part I practically gave away....wish I still had that crank, etc.

Agreed. Unless you have a seller lined up willing to pay eleventy-bazillion dollars for it.

Last time I was in this scenario I listed the bike on eBay for a buy it now price that I deemed to be ridiculous. The bike sold in 8 hours and I have some pics still but don't miss it

I have a similar Pinarello, same colour red, but built with a current 11 speed groupset( silver Athena)
I rarely ride it, basically mint like new.
I have considered selling it several times, but I think I just like looking at more than anything.

I know...no help. It's an impossible decision.
