Hi all,

Shimano external bottom bracket mated to a SRAM GXP Red 22 crankset.

Will it work? Or does it need to be a SRAM GXP bottom bracket?

As always, thank you in advance,

Steve

No go.
The one, sHram is 22mm on DS 24 NDS. Shimano is 24mm on both sides. Get the right BB.

I believe Sram is 22mm on NDS, 24 DS...either way you need a gxp BB.

GPX tapers. Shimano hollowtech doesn't.

correct as above, they are not directly compatible.

chris king and phil wood, among others make an external bottom bracket for shimano, with a conversion insert for sram cranksets, FYI. In theory, those conversion bushings could potentially be used to make a DA BB Sram compatible.

typically speaking, sram bottom brackets are not the best. i killed a few on my rain bike in short order running an omnium crankset. i eventually got a CK and called it a day.

Yeah, your right. I have used a quanity of 1 of those brand cranksets.
