Which do you think has the best training plans? Since the Sufferfest has gone to a monthly subscription I am debating on which to use.

I have a free month of trainerroad to give to someone if anyone is interested. I didn't know sufferfest did plans. I'm very happy with trainerroad.

If you like the Sufferfest video content, you've now got one option unless you previously downloaded the videos individually. The windows Sufferfest app is still very much beta. I've found bugs with Kickr erg mode, PowerTap distance recording and it still doesn't seem to have an option for power meter calibration.
I prefer the trainerroad interface with the Sufferfest videos but you can't really do that now unless you've already got them. Once my current Sufferfest sub runs out I'll probably go back to trainerroad.

I have most of the Sufferfest videos already and have been using them with TrainerRoad. I am looking mainly at the training aspect of it.

I like Trainerroad personally. So much flexibility with plans and goals. Plus you can run any video behind it in its minimal mode.

Trainerroad is tried and proven.

TrainerRoad. Why? because it has sufferfest workouts built it, 38 of them to be exact that work with your data live. If you really need to watch the videos just turn on youtube and blare some techno.

I was about to ask the same question because I've got TrainerRoad and also just did the 7 day Sufferfest trial. If I'm going to ride inside... it better be beneficial :crap:
It's almost a toss up for me, but for some reason my Sufferfest videos don't stream smoothly (iOS) and I do think the plans in TrainerRoad seem better.

Sufferfest must be better? I mean it is sufferfest after all.

Hey guys! Hope you don't mind me jumping in. David McQuillen, Chief Suffering Officer at The Sufferfest here.
As part of The Sufferfest Training Centre App, we've just made 10 different training plans available to all subscribers. The plans cover Road (10 week plans for Novice, Inter., Advanced and 3 week Speed and Climbing plans; 10 week for XCMTB, Cyclocross Novice and Inter and Olympic Distance Tri Novice and Int.).
The plans were designed by Neal Henderson and Mac Cassin of APEX Coaching. Neal, as you might know, is on the coaching team at BMC Racing Pro Team, as well as the personal coach of Rohan Dennis, Evelyn Stevens, Flora Duffy and a whole host of World Tour pro riders.
The plans incorporate not just our videos, but also skills drills, outside rides and - as an 'optional' stream - the yoga for cyclists series of videos that also come with our app subscription.
ps. TronnyJenkins if you're having trouble with streaming, try downloading the videos into the app so you never have to worry about buffering issues: https://vimeo.com/187758016
pps. RowanB if you're having any trouble at all, do please email us on theminions@thesufferfest.com and we will help you troubleshoot so we can get you running smoothly and Suffering without trouble.

I am doing a sufferfest road plan right now (do it every year to start winter off) and its pretty great. I do it in trainer road though since I have the videos and have the plan already.
Trainer road is more robust for sure but the sufferfest videos are great and the programs are easy easy to follow and I like that they have you ridding inside and out (even though I barely have gone out but you can just do it all in if you are a sissy like me. When sufferfest program tells me to ride outside, I fire up zwift)

TrainerRoad. Very well put together. And their app does a good job of controlling a smart trainer, if you decide to get one.

If you have a power meter, I would recommend Trainer Road. The perceived efforts on Suffer Fest are difficult to gauge.
Everyone is different, but I find having to match power to the bars on Trainer Road to be much more engaging than the videos on Suffer Fest.

Either Sufferfest app or Trainerroad allow integration of Sufferfest videos with a power meter. The perceived effort is backed up with a constantly updated target power calculated from your FTP.
I am currently following one of the Sufferfst programs, I really like it. I need the visual stimulation to push through the pain, Sufferfest vids offer this- its actually entertaining!
On the active recovery and endurance days I ride on Zwift, best of both worlds!
The way this winter has been up here one has to embrace riding on the trainer, all the options with the various online training programs is a huge asset!

The Sufferfest app isn't just perceived effort anymore. :) Our app does connect to power meters, HR monitors, cadence/speed sensors, etc. to set and track your performance against specific targets and control smart trainers. We also have a 'Virtual Power' function if you don't have a power meter or smart trainer: https://vimeo.com/187116880

Just wanted to ask why Sufferfest went to an App only platform for their videos?

Great question. It wasn't an easy decision at all and we took nearly a year to make it. Here's the story: https://thesufferfest.com/blogs/the-sufferfest-blog/the-sufferfest-is-going-app-only-and-heres-why
