I just swapped the X'Plor MSO tires on my Routt for a pair of Compass Barlow Pass 38's. This will be my winter set-up and was looking for a better rolling pavement tire. I have never ridden tires this big on the road. I am about 82kg. I ride 25c tubulars on my other bikes at around 90 psi. Was going to start with 55 psi and go from there barring any recommendations from anyone with experience. Again, only pavement, no gravel or off road.

Thank you in advance!!!

That's a fine place to start. I would think 50psi for the rear and low 40s for the front would be great depending on how you ride.

Which casing did you go with? Tubes? Butyl? Either way, enjoy the tires.

went with the Standard casing for my initial foray into Compass. Winter tire, figured the 'sturdier' sidewall a better idea. Riding Q Tubes butyl tubes for the moment, prefer latex and will order some for use after I figure proper pressure.

vamoots pal, don't be afraid to experiment and find your sweet spot. When you get there, it may feel too soft even like you are having a flat tire...but that's the sweet spot. :D

I love the Switchback Hills on my trucker.

I'm 200lbs and ride 50psi rear and 45psi up front on my standard casing Barlow passes. The ride is the smoothest I've ever experienced. Great tires for sure!

I'm around 200lbs and use 40psi front, 45 psi rear. Fast and smooth. They are my favorite brevet tire for new england roads...

I tend to prefer them with slightly less pressure. I might pump them up to 40psi front/45psi rear initially, but then won't pump up the tires for every ride. The sweet spot is probably somewhere in the mid to high 30's front and low 40's rear. I weigh 175lbs for reference.

I have yet to ride the Barlow Pass I have mounted, but plan to start around 35psi. I run 40/45 in the Stamped Pass on another bike. I'm 150lbs for reference.

42 front 48 rear. My weight is 160.

Got *three* flats while out on a 40 mile ride last friday, a new record. All out in the countryside, seemingly clear roadways, and far from the urban center. All from tiny slivers of glass, all rear tire, just sliced right through the casing.

So not real happy with all the Compass/JH hype at the moment...

A riding buddy had the same experience. Weighs about the same as you.

I have had better luck though and I'm built like a Sherman tank.
