Does anyone have experience with TA chain rings? Do they shift well with 10 and 11 spd systems?

I'm looking for chainring options for a Campy 11spd drive train (actually 10 spd era crankset). I found TA Vento chainrings on line, the description is that they are "pinned" for 10 spd and Campy compatible.

I'm riding more gravel on and find that i'm consistently in smaller gears. From the gear charts a 50x11 or 12 would be plenty on the high end and a 50x39 would be a good fit for me. Currently I'm using a 52x42.

So i'm debating either replace the chainring with a 50t TA Vento or shop around for a new Campy Compact crankset. The new Campy cranksets look really nice.

look at stronglight rings. i just got a set cheap from the UK and am quite impressed with how nice they are. Quite economical and come in a whole slew of gearing options.

I have a 36T that i really do not remember the brand but is not a TA and never had a single problem shifting with it. All depends how you shift and how the FD is set up aswell.

Sold a bunch, have them on my Athena EPS...work great.

I've used both TA and Stronglight - all around good experiences.

I kinda thought Vento was 9 and 10 speed. Probably work fine on 11's.

But.....TA makes 11 speed specific chain rings also. Check with Wiggle...last time I looked....they showed all the TA rings.

No experience with 11 speed, but I thought that the tooth width isn't different on chainrings?
I have new TA rings from Tweeks Cycles on my 9 spd Anderson and they shift very smoothly.

Ventos are listed as 9/10 for 5-arm Campagnolo. Available in black or silver and inner, middle, or outer chainrings. I have used them in 10 speed setups to good effect, but I have no experience with 11 speed. TA also lists Horus as their 5 arm chainrings for Campagnolo in anthracite grey for inner/outer setups. The new 4 arm cranksets (2015+) should use the X112/X145 chainrings.

See TA website for more details: http://specialites-ta.com/plateaux/road.html

Tooth width the same but CR offset a little closer together at the spider for 11s but I have 10s TA 48t on my EPS Merckx, works fine.

Just a couple of thoughts....9 speed, 10 speed, 11...whatever..I'm pleasantly surprised by how forgiving the front spacing is between generations of components. I have a Nuovo Record crankset on an old tandem that began life in the 6 speed era. I am using 9 speed Campagnolo with it without incident....It works great.

I found Campagnolo 10spd 50t outers that are listed as "Triple Comp" and it is 135mm. I'm not familiar with Campy triples.

Would this be a passable fit for an 11 spd double? Does going to a 50t demand a compact version of the front derailleur?

I'm using a 9spd era crankset on my 11spd drive train, and it is working well. I'm just not sure what the threshold is for mixing generations before it all goes to heck.

The pick up pins and ramps on a 50 tooth Comp are designed to have a 40 tooth ring in front of it.

Yes as long as the 11s crank BCD is 135mm and no, no need for a 'compact' front der. 50t CR around way before 'compact'. Altho Campag made a 'CT' front der, it went away in 2008 in favor of one front der. shimano never made one, just added a tooth to the fder 'range-15t max to 16t max. BTW-I used a 50/39 for over a decade w/o issue..9s, 10s, 11s..before I 'saw the light' and went to a 48/36..

Many thanks for the info..i'm going to take a look at the gear chart for both a 48t and 50t.

Mind sharing (PM is fine too) where you picked those up? Having a tough time finding a set of polished silver 50/34 campy rings!

Did not check Ribble, whoops.
Thanks! Now which aftermarket will best match Athena 11 polished silver...
