By attaining 6,401 miles I surpassed my goal of 6,000 miles for the year. Not too shabby IMO for someone who will turn 79 in another month.

Happy New Year to all,
Chief

Way to go!! Congrats!! I want to putting in those kind of miles when I hit 78. I'm only 51 and only managed a meager 4,200 miles this year...work, weather and school all got in the way.

Congrats, Chief, that's fantastic.

We were in San Antonio about a month ago with our trailer. What a nice city. We didn't do much riding other than the bike trails along the river. One trail south of the city went right next to our campground. With over 6k miles, I'm guessing there's some nice riding around there. I had one of my nicest rides of the trip nearby in Frericksburg.

Keep it up!
Murph

Congratulations. Any secrets you'd like to pass along on staying healthy and active to us young folks?

Congrats, compared to you I'm a slacker, I set no goals beyond enjoying the ride. I'm in the lower end of the 70's but am enjoying cycling more than I ever had.For those asking about riding well into your 70's, no big secret, eat healthy and keeping moving (makes it harder for father time to catch you).

One of my riding buddies is 87 years old. Until 3 or 4 years ago, he regularly rode 6,000 miles per year. Now, he's "down to" 4,000.

He's a great role model for good health at an advanced age. . . so is CHIEF . . . I'm in my late 60's and hope to do as well as both these guys a decade (and beyond) from now.

And check out this article about an 85 year old marathon runner. Remarkable!

cycling and other low impact sports that force the athlete to maintain healthy cardiovascular health are literally the fountain of youth i think. cycling has the benefit of being fun!

Congratulations, Chief. In what part of town do you ride (my mother lives in SA, and I visit/ride there occasionally).

Why change any thing--6000 miles.

I like the cut of your jib!

~10 years ago my annual mileage goal was always a specific number...which btw was always unattainable.

After a while my annual mileage goal evolved into "More miles than last year"

After a few more years my annual mileage goal evolved into "Approximately as many miles than last year"

I think by now it's devolved to "Some miles"
