My kids are 19 and 21, so their gift is a family vacation scuba trip.

For me, I am getting the picture below. This will be my first of this bike type. This is the sneak peek that I got from Garro, he should build up the bike later today.

These days I'm enjoying the simpler things.

For Hanukkah from my wife, PJs, a sweater, and a shirt.

From my son, 2 new vintage style western wear/cowboy shirts and a cowboy rubber ducky (because everyone needs a rubber ducky!).

Later today, our open house begins for friends and family who had no plans for the day. Sharing the time with these folks might be the best gift of all.

:fight:I gots a lotta love!

Seriously--had a health scare two weekends ago, and lost a few days in the hospital, and have been dragging for the past two weeks. Not much energy to tear around like a maniac for Christmas preparations.

But we have been hanging with friends--all of whom have been so kind and giving; my MIL is with us and then dinner tonight with a friend (and family) who helped us navigate the Emergency room and critical care phase.

Oh, and I got a good book--Sarah Bakewell, 'At the Existentialist Cafe'--her book about Montaigne two years ago is/was probably my favorite book of all time...

Season's Greetings to all you denizens of the best online bike forum!:fight:

Got a chorus group n rdy to go except for the stem n seatpost. Zipp beyond black is an option but who else makes a nice sestpost n stem in black with not to many logos, preferably in 17 degree or similar?

Yeah i saw that thx! Dident know parlee made stems n seatposts till recently (tho the may have just started?) i like the pist but the stem is only 6 degree and look bit chunky looking where it attaches to the steerer, much like enve (which i dont like alot visually either). And i think perhaps a shiny black stem with rest bike in matt may look of, perhaps better to match stem n post!?

If i were a manufacturer id make a sleak -17 degree stem with matching post and few logos ;)
I only know of zipp beyond black.

Yes there is a void in Stems from 10-17 degrees. You can go custom, but not in carbon, as far as I know.

I've been wanting a 100 degree -12 degree stem for the longest, but I don't want to pay for the extralite ( which is the only decent one I've seen). The zipps look like blehh to me.

We needed a new toaster. Looks cool and burns the Star Wars logo into your toast. The fact that the "doneness" lever says Light side and Dark side is hilarious. Unfortunately, even on the lightest setting possible, it burns everything. I’m afraid, our toaster (at least) has gone totally to the dark side. :)

Echoing what many others have said...my family was the best gift this year. It's been three years since our eldest daughter with us on Christmas, and she flew in from Bolivia to be with us this year. Our youngest came in from attending school out west, so I had all three of my daughters with me during this holiday. To top this off, our middle daughter gave us the wonderful gift of being grandparents earlier this year.

So spending time with our dear ones was the best of all. Unfortunately, the time was too short and we dropped our youngest off at the airport this morning and I'm feeling a bit blue now :(

Besides Zinn's maintenance book for road bikes, I was given two books of cycling photography: the Magnum Cycling book and Paul Smith's Cycling Scrapbook. They're both great, but the second one blows my mind. Tons of photos of vintage cycling and racing ephemera--a really cool love letter to the sport that went way beyond my expectations.

I got nothing from my family or friends. I'm self employed and I actually went to work of my own freewill on both the eve and as well as on Christmas. I figured why not...no wife, no kids, parents don't care...they get it, no girlfriends at the moment. I did get into an accident a month ago on my motorcycle. Riding along and this fella doesn't see me and pulls out into my lane from a parking place in his driveway. Long story short I had the right away and the insurance company agreed so he was found liable. It only cost me 400bucks to replace a bent brake pedal and damage to the fairings but the insurance company cut me a check for 3400$. Just received the check a week ago so I guess that was my christmas gift. Still have yet to spend it. For a brief bit I thought I was rich then I just deposited it into my account and still living with the same old sheet. Thinking about getting a cross bike or a fat tired bike or full suspension mountainbike or even a trials bike with a motor but I probably wont get any new bikes as I just work too much to enjoy what I got.

Best cycling related gift was a framed 8x10 home made motivational poster that a friend printed out.

It's the leaderboard from a local Strava segment, and it shows him ranked above me on a mountain bike trail near our houses. The whole family had a good laugh over that.
