Because my car broke down (fuel pump) one of those jobs too difficult to do myself without a lift to get under the car to drop the gas tank and exchange the pump. While it's being repaired all my mileage will be on bike though I wouldn't say it's the best day of the year for me as a dedicated cyclist. It was just fate that it happened on Dec. 21st 2016. I think of it as the rotten cherry to top off this xenophobic year.

But Wednesday night into Thursday was the longest night, so I had my longest night ride. I don't really have 14 hours of riding in me, so I started a bit late and got to see sunrise over Boston as I was heading home. I was on my cross bike with studded tires which are fast-proof, but my goal was not to push the pace (last year I bonked at 2am, 25 miles from home, and there was nothing open). I had my camera bag on my back, but I left a number of lenses at home in favor of food and batteries for lights and electric glove liners.

By comparison, winter base mileage is gonna seem easy...

Well, I could have said 'northern hemisphere' but that kinda makes it, ya know, big and complicated(?)..I guess I could have asked which way the water in the toilet rotates south of the equator..or somethin', I doono..yikes, I gotta ride my farging bike.:crap:

The December Solstice can happen on December 20, 21, 22 or 23, though December 20 or 23 solstices are rare. The last December 23 solstice was in 1903 and will not happen again until 2303. https://www.timeanddate.com/calendar/ten-things-december-solstice.html

I guess the question should have specified the year. :)
