So being the cheep weener that I ammo, instead of purchasing a new Garmin mount I decided to try and fix my old broken one. This was the first 26.00mm clamp bar mount on this planet and I decided to brave the waters of early adoption. This was a 3d printed product and lasted for quite a while after mounting it once. probably a few years. Then I got a new bike and decided to mount it on there, it didn’t want nuthin to do with it and snapped, I tried 3 types of glue and no dice. It hung broken amid my tools for another couple of years, then a few days ago I was like “dang it I really want to use it” and my gaze wandered over to the zip ties… Three drill bit sizes later and Eureka! I dun fixed it!

I'm terribly disappointed that you teased me with the title of your post. The body copy and pics certainly didn't live up to it. ;)

Who 3D printed that mount Fred Flintstone? I have the rubber band mounts that came with my 520 around somewhere. If you want them I can get them in the mail tomorrow.

Thank you for playing:hello:

Thanks for the offer:beer: unfortunately those rubber band mounts and quill stems just don’t work very well. I would totally sport one made out of granite, weight weenering be damned, no I got it from a chap across the pound. Plus this thing is on there super tight, think I might put a sliver of tube underneath for an even more iron grip. Zip ties are wonderful things. I wouldn’t trust this solution on the mtb but on the road it should be ok.

I now undertand why some guys carry zip ties in their saddle bags and camel backs.
