Did the Campagnolo Daytona come in 8 as well as 9 speed versions? This is a set I just picked up and the seller said 8 speed but I thought they were 9 speed?

Those are pre-2001 9 speed.

Daytona did not come in 8 speed.

10 Speed Daytona are marked '10 speed' on the right shifter.

9 Speed Post 2001 Daytona are marked '9 Speed' on the right shifter.

Very nice shifters :)

Thanks, that is what I thought but I wasn't sure since these are just labeled Daytona on the levers.

Eak has it right. The ones with no speed marking like yours were only made in the 2000 model year. 2001 are marked either 9 or 10 speed. 2002 changed to Centaur. I think sellers forget that 8 clicks means 9 speed.

I have some Daytona bits. Might even have a 2000 RD if you want to get all matchy with a build.

no campy shifters with that shape were ever 8 speed.

What he said..I wonder if the gent gets 8 'clicks'..so '8 speed' even tho that means '9s'..

AND for right above, yes, none came from factory as 8s but for a while, starting in 1999, Campag made an 8s shift disc to convert these to 8s..and then 2000, so could convert 9s to 10s..

You have to admire engineering that allowed current (at that time) 8 spd users to modify these fairly easily to use in their drivetrain... or for those going to the brand new world of 10 spd to do the same.

Thinking ahead. Although maybe not as profitable.

And then there's Campy wheels... that can run either 9 spd, 10 spd, or 11 spd...
