Anyone ever looked these over? Obviously from the lower level of Cannondale....some with a 68 MM threaded BB. Aluminum frame, carbon fork with aluminum steerer tube. No head set. Assuming it's the right size for you.....why is this not a screaming bargain for that commuter bike, training bike, travel bike, rain bike, etc. To build from old parts you got laying around. Isn't this as good as some of those mass produced Taiwan steel frame some buy for this purpose? Does a frame have to be expensive to be good?

It is a screaming deal, certainly can't deny it. Why the chippiness?

Exactly what I paid for a new R4000 CAAD4 frameset at the end of 1999. Good deal but I'd probably rather spend the same amount for used CAAD9.

Dude had zillions of them.. why so cheap? well always you can speculate... frames got stuck in a warehouse for several years, well could be that they took the components out and then they ended up with non complete bikes... who knows but this can tell you about the manufacturing costs of them. Clearly the seller is not losing money at all even at free shipping, so he got them cheap enough and priced them to move quick, you cant get stuck with 3 years old stuff better move them quick.

Seen stuff to happen with shoes, suddenly a seller gets like 500 pairs to unload at ebay... cheap as hell for good shoes.

Always wanted to have one of those caad because is newer aluminum, somebody gonna get a good deal to replace that busted racing bike.

Up until next year, I believe, the Caad8 had a different geo than the caad9, caad10, and caad12. It's been discontinued and is now the Caad Optimo, i believe

The Caad8 here, is not the same as the caad8 that came before the caad9, but rather the entry frame/bike for Cannondale.

Whether or not it's a perfectly fine frame -- I'm sure it is... But it's not the same as the others..

Exactly. These are not the originals. They made a CAAD8 until last year. I think the best if them were 105 level. Not nearly a CAAD 9 or 10.

That's true.....you can't compare it to a "real" recent CAAD frame. Cheap 6000 series aluminum, mass produced to be a 2016 entry level bike....some still 9 speed with ST cranks and threaded BB, etc. My point is.....it's cheap, it rides, probably won't rust....though aluminum will corrode. Probably built well enough for the rear wheel to follow the front, etc. Lighter than a steel bike. For what it is.....commuter, trainer, traveler, rain, can't really fault it. And some frames only available....so don't have to put up with the crappy parts that came on it.

Yes, breaking point was when they moved production to Asia.

2005-2006 CAAD8 R5000 was the top of the line aluminum frame. It came with DA (TruVativ carbon crank) and Ksyrium Elites. Replaced at the top by CAAD9 in 2007, but continued to be made in 105 and Ultegra versions.

I hadn't seen the new CAAD8's before... wow. They look just like CAAD10s with a threaded bb and different fork. Great deal.
