just curious?
dura ace 9000 pedals, for example, same with 105 and ulegra level have a stainless wear plate:

this plate is replaceable, obviously. I have gobs of miles on SPD-SL pedals, and they are all i use, on road or off, so they see some abuse. it's my experience that the nose of the pedal wears out first, and those stainless plates are very durable.
anyway, for the newest model of DA pedal, the replaceable portion is now gone in favor of "pads"

has anyone needed to replace that part on a pedal?
