DIY Bamboo frame kit from Calfee

It's intriguing, but a big investment for someone who is not already very comfortable with their tool handling abilities. One wrong move and you're out a lot of money. I would love to hear some first-hand accounts of how the build goes for anyone trying it.

Totally biased plug: A friend and former co-worker runs bamboo bike-building workshops in Denver (and sometimes travels to run them at other locations, like Boston, when a school hires him to come in). I haven't done one of his workshops yet, but I'd love to. He's a former full-time teacher and has done a ton of bike work and fabrication.

Last summer I made a bamboo frame very similar to the calfee one. It was a great experience and taught me a lot about frame building. I looked at the calfee kit a while back and I think the only thing bringing it down is the cost of the jig. If you have a few other people interested in building a frame though, the price can be very reasonable. IMO there is nothing better than riding around on a bike you build from scratch.
