I installed these under medium reach brakes on the Curtlo with IRD Mosaic 57 carbon fork. It's always been a good bike and of late had 28mm Michelin Endurance tires.

Did 40 miles today on all road surfaces = smooth new pavement, rough new chipped roads, and the stereotypical too-many-potholes-and-patches-to-count roads well known in the County. 55psi in the front, 65psi in the rear. Me thinks one of the most major things you can do to make your bike feel its best for club-type riding is to fatten that sucker up.

No clue about durability or flat protection or spending a ridiculous amount per tire, but we was having fun bouncing around today. Gonna try some Gravel King nearly slick size 32s as soon as they arrive on Monday.

awesome to hear! i just bought a set, as well as a set of the soma vitesse supple 33mm. I also just started riding the 30mm eroica tubulars from challenge, and like you say, not sure about durability, but the ride is killer! whats road noise? just smooth all day sailing

after my miserable experience last rando season riding 28mm tires, I decided to go with these next year. A couple years ago I rode 38mm tires for that, and really they didn't seem to slow me down at all. But my good rando bike doesn't take tires that big

I'd say the n+1 bike is now one with Paul Mini Moto brakes, Wound Up canti fork, ti frame, and big fat tires. Still no need, no interest in disc.

Compass tires look so nice. I decided to go the less expensive route with Challenge Strada Bianca 33c tires. Only a couple rides but I really like them. Just another option.

I have been using a pair of 32 GravelKings throughout the fall. They are fabulous. They are very damp, have nice roll-out and are durable.

Am I missing something, or are typical 32c cyclocross file-treads basically the same thing?

Its the end of CX season, and there are some great deals to be found on lightly used clinchers and tubulars.

If you look for NOS, you might even find some 30c that will fit in a typical road bike. Thats what I did for my wife's Bridgestone RB-1; found some vintage Ritchey Speedmax skinwalls, which at around 29c, fit great.

@Erik_A - the tires are different. I have a set of LAS, which works fine on pavement but not like my GKs. I do appreciate the LAS more when sticking to leaf covered Mt Vernon trail and C&O trail, but GKs are almost (95%) as good and better when the surface is smooth.

Yeah this is the formula. What I did with the Co-Motion, except 853, Enve, TRPs. Running 700x38 here (not EL):
