Saw this in a Facebook group I'm in and thought y'all might enjoy. Check out the guy's old serotta and his new ride it's leaning up against!

I believe this is the first 700cc-to-26" conversion that I have seen.

The business owner posted the picture.

The chainstays on that Serotta should be 5cm+ longer.

Yes. Way too much weight over the rear wheel. Zinn does a better job with oversized frames.

I like the description of the 36er on the website - Size Small fits riders 6'5"-6'9"

I feel bad for the saddle rails.

Now THAT is a proper use for 36" wheels.

That Serotta looks wrong in so many ways.

There's no way that Legend was custom-built for the guy who's currently riding it.

Yeah, looks like was made for a guy even bigger hehehehe :D

36 inches wheels??? I did not know what to think of the picture till I read 36 inches wheels?? How is that even possible? Gotta have to go out more often.

For large size people wheels that size are the way to go.

I have to say, the bikes are just perfect in any way IMO. You look at the pictures if you did not know everything is giant size you could swear is a regular 29r maybe. Great IMO.

BTW, where do you get tires, rims and spokes for this things??? Never seen them even in catalogs.

I found that giant was going to make wheels in this size and bicycles aswell.

I bet the builder is the sole supplier.

Looks like unicycle people had been using this size for a while...

This dude needs to build road or cx disc stuff now... the end of the super big front tube era?

I bet that Serotta wobbles real bad at high speed.

Hi and thanks all for the comments on the big 36er bikes for tall. We've developed a real Road version for us tall, see the pic attached. It's a size M DirtySixer for riders from 6'9" to 7'1". The MTB version on the left is a size S for rider riders from 6'5" up to 6'9".
Hope we can get all the tall and very tall riders on proportionate bikes, the DirtySixer! :-P

Clean69er pal, very good of you to cater to our tall pals. I think the bikes on that picture needs some kind of reference point. They looked like normal bikes. :D

Sure, you and I would have to look up to see the saddles. :D

Nice bikes by the way and long overdue for taller riders. I never understood why we had to shoehorn tall riders onto bikes with small wheels and short cranks.

Thanks for the warm words.
For comparaison I have this pic of a DirtySixer size L with one of our 7f customer, our engineer, fabricator and owner of Ventana bikes, Sherwood at 5'8" (maybe?) and myself at 6'6"...

Those bikes look great. I've always thought huge, oversized frames look bad with conventional setups. These bikes look like they would ride and handle as well as the smaller versions.

Thanks! They are designed and engineered to handle even better than the regular sized bikes: we take into consideration the overall bigger body and higher center of gravity and bigger challenges. The handling is safer and more predictable than any other 700c (or 29er) bikes that are adapted to tall riders.

Yes, drop bars... not sure what is so  about it... :-)

I bet, we will have to test this out some day!

These (https://www.crustbikes.com/products/wide-load-bar?variant=28423107981)bars make so much sense here.

Yes I contacted Matt from Crust but I believe they must be away riding since I haven't got an answer after his initial response end of January. I like the width but the 25.4mm isn't going to be great for us with big hands. It's like grabbing a chopsticks... I have been using 48cm c-to-c from Kuosac. It's a lot of money to come up with our ideal drop bar design...

Nitto has a great reputation for producing racks and bars to customer's specs. I don't know what the minimums are.

Bar tubing diameter for all road drop bars I know of are 23.8mm regardless of clamp diameter. For the clamp area shims work just fine. Double wrapping tape could help with the grip.

I had trouble reaching Matt via email when I had some questions. Crust's home base bike shop is Belmar Bike Shop (http://belmarbikeshop.com/) in Belmar, NJ. I called and asked if someone could answer some questions about a Crust frame and they handed the phone to Matt. I follow them on IG and I think he may be back in Oz right now. They have a good track record of delivering product when they say you can expect them, so I'll bet the April estimate turns out to be accurate.

Ok just FYI there is now a 36er Road DirtySixer bike available to pre-order (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1743061580/world-only-36-mtb-and-36-road-bikes-for-tall-peopl) and a 32er Gravel Road bike (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1743061580/first-ever-32er-big-bike-for-all-tall).
The 36er is definitely for riders over 6'8" the 32er being for rider under 6'8".
The 36er get light AlexRims with smooth road tires and 48 cm c-to-c drop bars from Kuosac (unless I can make wider ones) and hydro brakes, 1x11 wide range or Rohloff XL. The 32er share almost the same philosophy except wider rims (42mm) with cross tires (2.25"), same bars, brakes, drivetrain options.
Oh and 36 spokes and longer cranks on both.
Tell your tall friends! Thanks
