That's pretty great!

The RS owner had those custom made (back in 1983) from some crank bolts.

Same here and I liked them. I went back to the site the other day to buy some more, but it looks like they are no longer offered.

What ever happened to Ray...he used to be here all of the time.

I like the RS set, if for no reason than that they aren't plastic. Everybody has made plastic end plugs and copies of them. Plugs that are actually machined down from bolts are pretty cool. Even better if the threads were left on and attached to an alloy expansion unit inside the bar.

We need a thread of the nicest little features people have put on Richard Sachs frames. Starting with Grant McLean's little RS cutout on the inside front face of the top tube where it's only visible with the seat post out. I had three (I don't think I missed one, Richard?) Sachs frames and loved all of them. I had one that was made with double-tapered seat stays just like on very early Colnago Supers and with a yellow and white paint job just like a Confente I once had. There's something elegant about how these touches work on a Sachs -- never gaudy or ostentatious like on so many other frames.

Good idea, but I think it should be on any custom frame where the builder went out of his way to make the bike special and different. I bought a frame from Kelly Bedford where he carved the lugs and cutouts. To me, it is really pretty, and Kelly went out of his way.

I have those on my foul weather/commuter bike (which is an older bike fwiw) and I gotta admit I think they look pretty sharp, in a utilitarian, industrial way.

I always thought Campy users are the enlightened ancient souls of the cycling world.

Anyways the idea of tassels seemed pretty neato. So I went out to looks for some, sure enough I found myself in my local small town bizness family super store. I found them but they were not for sale, and I am no thief, I found a $15 set with tassels included, too rich for my blood and no price matching.

But I had to have tassels! Searching high and low I found something that could work, the end result…

Yes - I made three for you.

Further to the OP, in the 1970s I made a tap for the inside of Cinelli dim 'bars that, when utilized, allowed me to send my bicycles out into the world with Campagnolo crank dust caps threaded in as a "plug". It was beyond cool and I never saw any other bicycles like this. Some may have had odd parts shoved in. But the tap, encased in a sleeve that enveloped the handlebar, ensured a proper Go-No Go thread fit.

I also used to carve a selection of windows, initials, and shapes into the head tube and seat tube vent areas - these only visible before the frame was assembled. But the feature eventually became ubiquitous in other bicycles and, before long, lost its appeal for me.

The little things.

Depends on the context. For the '83 all white bar wrap and silver stuff, stick with the opening bid. That raise would look great on a 21st Century ride with carbon stuff.
