Anyone install the new 9100 group yet? Any tips? The FD looks kinda like it might be weird, installation-wise. -Jeff N.

Go here http://si.shimano.com/
Then here http://si.shimano.com/#seriesList/16
Then find the DM for the FD and open the PDF.

I will be finding out in a week or so. I just ordered a 9100 FD today. I am running up the white flag on my 9000 FD. I can't get it to play nice.

Just checked out an installation video on youtube.com. Very interesting how the FD-9100 is set up. Quite different, in many ways, to what I've been used to over the years.

Yowser, front ders used to be so simple.

Little 'cycling finesse' and they shifted just fine.

yes, yes, my inner and outer curmudgeon is talking-

No such thing as finesse when all you have is a 2-position lever

...and no one teaching the finer points of shifting (or riding in general) any more

Just go to youtube.com and search "Dura Ace FD-R9100". Click on video. It's in Japanese but you'll get the idea.

I would vote for simple at this point. Maybe 9200 will be a cinch to set up? I hear rumors that 9200 is being released in 2 weeks...

1984 Super Record 3 Hole "Front Changer" worked great with Late Aughts Ultra Shift Centaur aka 25 Years of Compatibility

And riders used to know how to pedal...

My coach used a 44x18 for 99% of his riding. He knew how to produce torque, so he could go up hills, he knew how to spin, so he could go fast (both understatements, he held the record on Mt Washington and the 1K roller race). One of the guys at my shop claims that Di2 works so well that you shift more often. And that's a good thing???

Just watched the video...I've never seen it in real life, but it sure seems more complicated than it needs to be. I would hope Shimano has a good reason for designing it that way...feels like there was no good reason to reinvent that wheel...

2017 XT and XTR also way complicated...kinda a really involved answer to a pretty simple question...but very 'Japanese'. Complication but generally with good results.

Wow. It does seem similar to the Topswing design used on many MTB FDs...but why.
