Caad 9

Any thoughts on the price of this CAAD 9 on Ebay? Looking for a bike to get into racing next year and not totally break the bank. Is there a big difference between the 2010 CAAD 9s and a new CAAD 10 from a weight perspective?

The 9's are great bikes. I bet you can get it for the 600 or so.

great bike and a good deal at 600, but if i were to play "price is right" i'd guess $700.
i am pretty sure if they is any weight difference between a 9 and a 10, you will notice any difference.

Realistically you're not going to notice any differences between the 9 and 10 unless you ride them back to back.

Also realistically you're not going to notice a difference in racing between the two.

My (now former) teammate raced for about 8? years, started and ended on I think a CAAD6. Still rides it now. He upgraded the drivetrain as things wore out, he bought wheels a few years into his racing days, but that's about it. He progressed to become a reasonable Cat 3. I think he still holds a massive-to-me KOM on the Tues Night Worlds course, one that a couple domestic pros did regularly. It's a one lap segment.

Just looked it up. His KOM got toppled this year, 64k "attempts". He's 3rd now, first place is tied between two guys. 33 mph for the lap.

So CAAD 9 is fine. Get it fit (http://suitcaseofcourage.typepad.com/the_suitcase_of_courage/2008/07/tour-de-france-fitting-cleaning.html) well, adjust your fit as you get more racing fit, learn to ride in the field, and you'll be fine.

Have a CAAD9, one of my favorite rides. One issue with that ebay bike (imo, at least) is that it may have the BB30 BB. Nice no nonsense bike that just does what is asked of it.

Perfect race bike. Not a racer, but I have a CAAD 10 that I seem to be riding more and more often, and not riding my other bike. Beginning to believe it's a do it all bike. So relatively cheap I'm not afraid to ride it in all conditions. Beginning to think it's all the bike I need....don't need both.

seems like a good buy at $600, not real sure about much more than that.... but, if it's the right size, I probably wouldn't quibble or $50 for example... guess I'm just not sold on the wheels... would be a great bike for racing though!

CAAD9 is a do all bike. I have one, and ride it probably more often than anything else. Get yourself some nice wheels and it will be whatever you want it to be.

P.s. sorry I can't comment on the price there as I have no idea what those parts are worth, so am just speaking to ride quality. Is that bike worth 600 bucks? If you've already got parts and wheels that are good, search out just a caad9 frame with the premium fork. Cant imagine that more than a few hundred bucks or so.

I have a "CAAD rule"...That is, how much money do you have to spend to get a better all around racing bike than a CAAD (X)?..The answer is quite a lot....

I have a CAAD 9 - BBQ black in 63cm size with the BB30 BB. I just use the problem solvers inserts with a standard crankset, no issues.

I very compliant ride for how stiff it is around the bottom bracket during hard efforts.

I have heard that the CAAD 10 is more prone to denting, so it may have slightly thinner tubes.

Is the BB being a BB30 an issue? I thought BB30 was a common BB and with a BB30 I will easily find replacements to upgrade the drive train? Thanks for all the responses!!!

Some say that they "creak" more than BSA threaded.

+1. I have a creak-free CAAD9 using the cheap Wheels Manufacturing Delrin adapters with Shimano cranks. Inexpensive, quiet, easy to maintain. What's not to like?

Price seems about right to me. I sold my nice 2007 Optimo 2 with Ultegra and R561 wheels to a friend for $650.

I just picked up a 2014 Caad10 with 105 group for $710 on Ebay for my nephew. Probably will put another $60 in to it for a chain, cables and housing
