Hey guys. Happy Turkey Day!

Question and hoping someone has 1st hand experience. Have my Pegoretti Marcelo in Baci. Love the bike!

I just picked up a Look 695 frame/module and get to keep one. (If I was to keep the Look I would build it up like this picture)

Not sure how the 695 rides compared to the Peg. I do know from research that tons of people love the 695 and same for the Peg of course. Wondering what your guys thoughts are. Two different frame materials so should be a pretty big difference I would think.

Cheers!

I think the differences in feel will have more to do with contact points and tire pressure.
Pick the one you think looks the best! (no pun....).

That said, carbon bikes are pretty darn cookie cutter these days......I'd keep the Peg. If you are desperate for a carbon ride down the road, pick up a cheap ridley on sale, etc.

Buy a cheap gruppo on the forum and build up the Look. Ride them both back to back with the same wheelsets for a few months and then figure out which one you gravitate to the most. Absent this, if you sell the Peg and 6 months from now find yourself underwhelmed by the Look, then .....

I've had a Peg Marcelo since 2007 and more than a few contenders have come and gone since then, including a Ridley Damocles with extended headtube (sorta like the look). I just picked up a Colnago C50 this fall. I haven't had enough time to ride it to give it a proper test but both bikes ride spectacularly well. I wouldn't move the Peg without a proper comparison.

Why can't you keep both? Nice to have some variety in the stable. These two should be a great pair.

I would agree with the first two parts of your post. I'm a huge Look fan and biased. I never rode the 695 but my 585s are pretty perfect bikes.

Keep both. Ride both.

My vote is to keep them both! If I could keep only one, I would have a tougher time parting with the Peg.

Sounds like the sentimental choice is to keep the Peg, I would agree to keep both or at least build and ride the Look before deciding.
I picked up a 585, and after a few rides sold everything else except a Moots, which rarely gets ridden. The Look is the best riding bike I have ridden over 30 years of riding. IF there is something better I probably won't find out as I quit looking. It may have something to do with the fit being spot on (for me)
It won't win the best looking bike contest, but I bought it to ride not look at.

I'd keep the Pegoretti. There will always be bada$$ carbon bikes being produced. There will be a finite amount of Pegs available:beer:

I own a Look and am a big fan but really don't like the integrated seatpost on the 695.
1) It doesn't travel well (many bike bags required that you fully lower your seat)
2) the profile suggests very limited vibration dampening
3) Once cut, it's yours and it is only adjustable within a very small margin - they could have done better than that.

To be fair I have not ridden a 695 so maybe the feel makes up for these shortcomings.

There will be a cooler plastic bike next year. Keep the Peg or find a low cost group for the Look and have both. I've seen too many posts recently about how folks regret selling ___. The Peg will be one of those bikes.

Why would you pit an "unknown" vs a "proven"?

As a long-time Marcelista (and ex-Look 585er...no 695 experience, just not interested) I can state with absolute certainty that, at least to me, this is definitely the wisest and best decision ever made on the Paceline Forum at 5:51 PM PFT (Paceline Forum Time) on Thursday, November 24, 2016.

Are black-out decals for the FFWD wheels available? ;)

Yes I know I am working on it. They are available but as overlays. I'm not sure if it will cheapen the look or not. I had an offer out there to trade wheelsets. But I do love the FFWD tubs. The ride so nice on this Peg. A true magic carpet ride.

Just an opinion of course but I don't like the look of the Look bike, it's too cookie cutter as another poster mentioned, I much prefer the Pegoretti Marcelo.

After owning a duende and 695 from the seller of your Marcelo, keep the pegoretti. Txt me if you want opinion offline

I have a Marcelo and a 585 and the 585 gets more riding time.

That company sure has a lot of decals, which is great. The ENVE black-outs that I have seen all look pretty good, and not cheap at all. At $40 + shipping, the FFWD's are not throw-aways but I would think that the quality from the company is good.

after almost letting go a "keeper" prematurely, i would say it equally does not make any sense for you to not ride the Look for a few months and see whether you like it or not. ride quality preferences are so subjective there is no way knowing until you get on it and get some quality time with the Look.

You may be surprised! I have a 695 that I love It is quite comfortable for long century rides. I think you will like it...maybe more than your Peg.

Life is too short to limit yourself to only one bike!
