I tried one at a local yard sale. Takes the weight off your body, strange sensation as you stride, can't really run. I went several times around the block, can't get any real speed but it was fun trying.

I have no clue what that thing is, but they sure need to hire a different copy editor...pronto.

Imagine going in a 15 to 20 % incline or in a 5 miles downhill where you can reach 70km/h like nothing in that thing :D

Watching the video on their website, that thing looks pretty unnatural, uncomfortable, unstable, etc. Not a very convincing demo.

There's a guy I've seen locally who has one of these (https://www.streetstrider.com/). He's sometimes out on the local MUP early in the morning during summer months.

I'm just glad he doesn't seem to use it during peak commute hours since it takes up a lot of room and doesn't seem particularly nimble. Whatever, he seems happy and is getting some exercise. Looks like more fun than running on a treadmill in the gym.

I've seen 2 or maybe even 3 different people riding a similar two-wheeled version elliptical "bike" up here on 30 in the last year. Little more nimble than a trike maybe... still silly as ****.

Going the wrong way in the bike lane, too.

As you say, good to see people trying to get fit though. Or whatever they're doing.

Definitely don't tell my wife I diss on 'em (she thinks they look cool)

No. Just no.

Why even wear a helmet on that thing? You're 6 inches higher than you usually are, and probably not any faster than if you were running hard.

I don't think the target demographic is cyclists.
I think it's people that are overweight who can no longer use their knees to walk. Or run.

Kind of makes sense if you can no longer support your weight, without causing serious physical harm. But the thing that I don't understand... it's like riding a really heavy motorcycle if you drop it you won't be able to pick it up. Is that what it's like for overweight person on this? It seems kind of dangerous.

What's with the whole over-the-head bar thing, though? Why have this huge (static?) suspension system on what's essentially:

Like the chick in the video says, there's a learning curve to this thing. Why not just take the cranks off an adult bike and at least be a familiar device to almost everyone?

There's a guy around here that rides one of these on the MUP. This "vehicle" steers by tilting it in the direction you want to turn (like a skateboard does). Since the rider moves their weight from side to side as they alternate their steps, the "vehicle" naturally tilts back and forth. Consequently, the guy I see riding it is continually weaving back and forth as he rides down the MUP.

Seen this things, they use like a 12 speed internal hub and stuff. because of the wheel you know are expensive... I like this way better than the butt glider one :P

As with the other one and with all these lay down and seated over the floor contraptions, the flaw is that they can't go uphill neither go down hill too fast because the handling obviously is bad. Go down in the strider at 60+ km/h and try to make a sudden turn or something, the chances to die or have a really bad accident are just big.
