The front shifter blade is broken (snapped in half) on my left side Shimano Ultegra ST-6700 STI which otherwich works perfectly. The OEM "ST-6700 left hand main lever assembly - double" is $90, and I don't want to spend that much.

If I look for a used donor lever to swap the assembly out of could it be any of these 4 flavors: ST-6700; ST-6703; ST-5700; ST-5703 ?

I thought that I read awhile ago that the 105 and Ultegra were interchangeable, but what about the triple assembly, will it work on the double that I have? I know the part numbers are different for double vs triple, but just wanted to ask in anyone has tried this.

i don't think this is the part that is responsible for the 2 vs 3 chain-ring compatibility. seems like it should work in theory.

Is it the carbon brake lever or something else that is broken? I have a broken left 6700 lever; just the tip of the carbon blade is cracked (thanks TSA!).

First, I don't think a 5700 lever will fit onto a 6700 body...AND if it shifts a triple, it'll shift a double. The lever, trim, distance, etc from small to middle is the same as small to big.
