Kind of a shock, didn't know she was ill. Always smiling, always seemed to be trying (and succeeding) to balance and moderate views. She'll be missed.
Been a tough week.

Stunning. I had no idea either. Yes, I always liked her demeanor and composure too, and her smile.

I also wondered where she was. She leaves a void in TV journalism.

Awww. I loved (as others have said) her upbeat happy presence and dulcet tones to her voice. I could always tell it was her.
So sorry. As Thwart said, rough week.
RIP. Tell Walter hello.

A true example of grace and class. I feel like we've lost a trusted family friend.

I couldn't believe she was missing the close of the election. It seemed like just a few week ago she was still on W Week?
A rock our soon to be dissident media will sorely miss.

I caught her a couple of times in the past, struck me as a very, very decent human being... gone too early, but they all do most of the time...sad to hear.
She was certainly a favorite, balanced reporting and a true journalist, sad to see her go. Gwen Ifill will be missed, especially when media coverage of events and day to day can seem overtly partisan.

One of the good ones and there are few left in her class. I will miss her greatly.

I agree with everyone here, she was great and what a surprise! I (as others have said) had no idea that there was anything wrong. She was great at what she did! Life is short.
