Keep in mind that it was a UCI World Cup event and not the World Championships. Most of the powerhouse nations don't worry too much about these events this early in an Olympibc cycle.

not the GB "A" team - none of their gold medalists. Although Belgium had a couple big names out there with De Ketele and De Pauw at Apeldoorn, they didn't qualify for the final at Rio.

Pretty amazing results. One of the young guys raced on the same youth team as my son a few years back...nice to see him succeed at this level.

Definitely enjoy the moment! A World Cup win is a huge deal.

But it's also important to contextualize it. Track World Cups draw a variable start list depending on where they are in the Olympic cycle, and right now, some countries are abstaining and others are sending very much developmental team. Canada wasn't going up against the best in the world this time - but, at the end of the day, they have a WC medal (and points!) to show for it, so they can laugh all the way to the bank.

While folks are interested in track racing, y'all should DEFINITELY watch the madison in the link that BdaGhisallo shared. Probably starts around 2h 15m into the video, or thereabouts. Along with the World Champ madison from earlier this year (/last season), it's probably one of the more exciting Madisons I've ever seen, and truly a tension-filled race with a heroic effort and a shredded field!
