Got a buddy who's face plate cracked today on an older Ritchey stem. So he's looking to replace the stem, but I told him it might be hard to find a new 26.0mm stem. I did a quick check on some of the cycling webstores, but nothing popped up. I know there's eBay and our classified section, but he was anxious to get something ordered today.

So does anyone still make 26.0 threadless stems?

I haven't found one in a while outside of the aforementioned places you mention. If Dimension is, that might be one of the minimal options..

Aren't there adapters on the market to fill the gap on a 31.8?

Few options here. These are probably all available at your local QBP shop.

Civia, Deda, Dimension, Profile Design, Soma

Soma looks nice if you want silver.

I know I have a couple 110mm stems if you need something... forte and Cannondale I believe, may have a 90mm Ritchey as well. LBS should be able to get something too, Or likely have a few kicking around.

Thanks guys!!! He currently has a 1", 90mm stem at -17º and ideally would like the same. I did see that Performance has one in their brand that would work, but not at his desired angle.

I'll share everything that has been posted here with him.

These fit all the criteria:
90mm x +/-17º x 26.0mm bar clamp, but will require a 1 1/8" to 1" steerer shim (apparently not supplied with these stems, but any lbs should have them).
It comes down to color choice.
Available now, but low stock.

I think Nashbar has their house brand but I'm not sure about the angles.

7º, not 17º.

Thanks for the continued input. I'll make sure my riding pal sees this.

I know VO has em but I would get one from the forum here or ebay, I bet tons of people have em in their parts bin.

The absolute best 26.0 threadless stem being made now: Nitto UI-87:

(My opinion, but take a look and feel free to agree/disagree...)

Only made for 1 1/8 steerer, but it's nigh impossible to find a threadless stem made for 1" steerers. Plus, the spacer inside is hardly noticeable.

7000 series aluminum ones lighter than 6000 aluminum. Example: Ritchey WCS (7000) is lighter than Ritchey Pro (6000). Cheaper ones usually 6000 series. Same for 26 MM center bars. Look for 7000 series bars. Much lighter.

Another example and cheap also.....Cannondale bars and stems C1 are 7000 aluminum. Very light. C2 and lower is 6000, much heavier. Took me a while to get this aluminum bar and stem stuff figured out. I think 7000 aluminum is as light as CF, and much cheaper.

Bar and stem....about a 100 gram difference. (1/4 lb)

Yes. I have never used any but I guess that they might work OK.

Good call. The VO Threadless Stem 26.0, +/-17º Rise (http://store.velo-orange.com/index.php/components/stems/threadless-stems/vo-threadless-stem-26-0-17-rise.html) does look pretty nice.

Neither of those are +/-17º, as far as I can tell.

Nitto do make the UI-86EX (Silver) and UI-86BX (Black) in 1 1/8" (with 1" shim) x 90mm x +/-17º x 26.00 clamp.

Have him check out a bike shop that uses J&B as a distributor..they have a bunch of them, they are kinda Origin8 central..

I've got a almost new black Ritchey Pro stem in -17 (horizontal with ground with 73 degree head tube) in 110 I'm not using. Also have the adaptor for 1".

BTW, that Nitto looks pretty nice.
