While out riding I saw a classic 3Rensho all Suntour Superbe from 80's
Except crankset with Suntour Superbe logo on it was a Carbon fiber crankset compact
They must be back in business. any links to their site
I wouldn't mind a compact Superbe crankset set on my all Superbe 88 paramount
I could climb Mt diablo with it YES

Maybe SR suntour VX crankset? But i do not remember those being carbon at all.

Well the guy used a carbon crankset and painted the logo just to match it to the rest of the group?? Is not hard to do in carbon at all.

The Maeda company, which created and owned the Suntour brand, went out of business in 1995. A short time later, one of their suppliers, SR (Sakae Ringyo) bought the Suntour name, and changed their own name to SR Suntour. Since then, they have applied the Suntour name to forks, shocks, cranks & seatposts.

So, Suntour is back in business the same way that Polaroid is back in business - as a name bought and used by a completely different company.

You can add Mercier, Windsor, Schwinn, Masi, and a few others to that list.

Man up. I climbed Diablo on a 52/42 with a 12-24 freewheel and lived to tell the tale. ;)

Me too, but that was in perhaps 1982. Not sure I would make it up with my 52/42 cranks without walking today...
