Ok, well one Italian car in particular.

New auto museum opened up in my hometown. I took a neighbor of mine to check it out. Very small but nice examples of some cool cars.

Everyone in my neck of the woods is gaga over this chip foose 65, but I'll take the tipo birdcage any day of the week!

Had the pleasure of visiting Maranello last December, and walked through both (yes, there are two) Ferrari museums. Highly recommended.

Yea it's a cool Chevy Impala, but oh yea a Maserati bird cage yah now we are talking. I saw one or should say heard on once at the vintage races at laguna seca around 1978 I was 12 young and impressionable, nice.

I went a couple years ago. Did you go over to PUSH START? I did. Got some cool stuff and drove a 458 Italia. Relatively cheap given how long he let me drive and what he was telling me.

Yes! I opted for the California, the "girlie" Ferrari, which is an absurd description, because, as I told my dude in the passenger seat, I drive a Subaru every day, you know? 465 hp, top down, glorious sound. Oh, the sound. It actually got cheap Mr. pink thinking how he could swing 200,000 grand, somehow.

My girlfriend drove the Italia. Looked a little cramped. But still cool. All Ferraris are cool.

I was at a hotel hosting a benefit on Friday night in LA. When we left for dinner, the valets had parked a Ferrari California right in front of the entrance. When we returned from dinner, they had parked an F12 in the spot up front, and unceremoniously shuffled the California to the back of the lot. Stinks for that guy. LOL.

I HATED the Birdcage when I first saw one racing at Meadowdale International Raceway in 1959 or 1960. I LOVED Lance Reventlow's Scarabs with HOT Chevy V-8s and these new little pi##-ant cars with FOUR cylinder engines blew them away. The end of an era. I love them now. :)

That's not actually a Maserati. It's a copy built in the 70's using kit car parts and other period looking components, homemade panels, and a non-birdcage Maserati engine.

Actual front engined birdcages were built with 4 cylinder engines, as were some of the mid engined variants (though some had v12's).

You only live once.....you should give it a shot, if only for a short time. They're not all $200k either...plenty options for half that.

When I was a kid we used to spend a lot of time in the library while my mom studied for her degree. In 1984 I found a book called Ferraris For the Road by Rasmussen and fell in love. I told myself then that someday I would own one, and although it's unlikely I'll ever own any of those models, I do hope to add a more modern Ferrari within the next 5 years. You can keep the rear-engined v8 cars....the perfect Ferrari for me is front/mid v12 grand tourer (465/550/575/612)

Bob Sinclair, an acquaintance of mine who has since passed away (former CEO of SAAB Cars USA), once told me that the two most beautiful words in HIS English language were "my Ferrari".

Here are some pictures I took in 2007 at Virginia International Raceway when I was there for the VSCCA event. This is my favorite birdcage... the paint scheme is one I favor, but the owner (Tony Wang) is such a nice guy so that adds significantly to the experience.

Beautiful! Thanks for some uplifting images this morning. I'm a big fan of Italian cars of all sorts....oddly enough, probably more so the lesser displacement, lesser sought-after ones...
