Last night was the final group ride of the season when it was still light when we left. A smaller group of us will continue to ride with lights, but I will miss having some daylight after work hours. Now most of my outside tasks (like cutting the grass) will all have to be done on Saturday. While it is nice for us Florida folks to have a break from the heat and humidity, I would live with that if I could keep the longer daylight hours all year long.

BTW, why can't we keep daylight savings time all year long

Meanwhile, as someone who rides almost exclusively before work and had to wait until 7:20 this morning for light that came from somewhere other than his headlight, I'm salivating at the thought of a sunrise an hour earlier!

My bike commute will be dark though, so that'll suck.

Last weekend the middle european summertime ended by turning the clock one hour back. Now, at 6 pm it's dark outside.

But next spring will come..... :)

.

I am with you. More light, warmer temps. DST is such a waste for me. It's dark when I get out of work no matter what.

I had to use the flashlight on my phone this morning walking back to the house from the trainer in the garage... at 7:15. It was pitch black. Definitely looking forward to the time change.

Also, October logged over 10" of rain, about 7" more than the average. So that's a nice start to the wet season here in the PNW. Only about 7 more months....sigh

:crap:

People who work early in the morning appreciate it. You had your time. Don't worry, nothing lasts forever :P

Arizona.

I prefer my summers medium-rare (http://www.accuweather.com/en/us/boston-ma/02108/july-weather/348735), not well-done (http://www.accuweather.com/en/us/tempe-az/85281/july-weather/336877).

Don't think I'm not envious the rest of the year though.

Dark here till 7-7:30AM right now (Sunrise 7:20AM today) and it's dark by 6PM (Sunset 5:35PM). And we haven't moved the clocks yet. It'll be dark at 4PM here soon.

I'd be happy to take some of that extra florida sun right now not to mention the heat.

Am I the only one who embraces winter riding as a whole different thing? In season it's fast - and fast is fun. Winter is base mileage time, bundled up in winter clothing, holding zone 3 for hours. It's a different pace, a different sort of ride. Last year on the shortest day I did the longest night ride. I left shortly after dark with my camera bag and lots of lighting. I got home around 3am legless. It was an experience I plan on repeating this year.

yeah, it is 60 today. Probably last time we'll see 60 in 2016. I'm leaving early to get in a ride. sucks.
