View Full Version : WHAT is up with Kessler's UNDERSHIRT??

They have been showing lots of shots of him with his jersey zipped down and it's got holes all over it! ***? I mean holes it looks like have been cut, not holes that are there just because the cheapskates only issue him one undershirt and it wears out.

You can also see the Adidas logo at the collar, and I know I read somewhere that in the past few years Ulrich would cut the Adidas logo off there because of a sonsorship deal he had with some outside company. But why is Kessler doing this, assuming it's on purpose? Is he just hot? Is this some sort of private dig at Ulrich? And is this the SAME undershirt in every stage? Is he just wearing the one for the whole Tour? By the end of the Tour they'll be able to give the shirt a bike and it can pedal across the line by itself . . .

Dave, Don't you know the story*?

On his deathbead, the dude's grandfather gave him that shirt and said: "With this, you win the tour." So he's worn it ever since.

Of course, other people in the room think they heard grandpa say "Throw this out, it is an embarrassment."

I was wondering the same about the shirt, it has a kinda Billy Idol charm to it.

My favorite were the rocks sticking out of his helmet after the guard rail vault. Cool hardcore look.

it gets very hot. think of them as cooling vents. i'm not joking. they cut holes in the garments... to keep cool. you see them sometimes slash up skinsuits in time trials too.

the undershirt wicks moisture away..which is cooling but at the same time..the feeling of wind on your skin is cooling too.

The holes in the undershirt are Kessler's not-too-subtle visible signs of solidarity with Ullrich.

I cut holes in my undershirts and bib straps all the time. I don't know if it makes them any cooler but I think it does and I think it looks cool  so what the heck. I used to cut holes in a couple of jerseys too but now that I pay for them I don't anymore. It would sometimes make for funny suntan lines.

could the holes be there so team doctors can hook up monitors without making the riders disrobe?

well, my first guess was multiple nipples (nubbins?) and a desire to avoid chafing...

He goes over the guardrail without a scratch and you have to ask?

It's holy, of course....
