Folding a folding tire as it came vs method X.....

So I think I gave a good go of searching.....but maybe not.....

My curiosity was whether it's a better idea to fold a folding tire as they originally came, or try the tri-fold thing or ???

I need to take a spare on a trip that I'd like to get as small as possible and wonder if there's a "best" way? (I just don't see people folding them with that flattened style the way they came & wondering why not?)

I pretty much re-fold them as they came.
