I guess I could have also posted this as a PSA in the classifieds but hey....:D

So, Huffy or Not Huffy? :)

1984 Olympic race bike. This was a custom made bike that they stuck Huffy stickers on!....

This is a very rare bike. I was told 1 of 52 when I bought it. I can't find anything to substantiate this, I would be surprised if even that many were made.
Here's your chance to own a part of Olympic and Colorado history, would make an excellent restoration project or good chance for bragging rights to your friends

$325.00 cash -some say these were Ben Serotta built others Mike Melton

It looks like junk to me.

agreed. a quarter-step above department store junk -- its fitted with not-quite bottom-of-the barrel kit and has a chrome fork after all!

IIRC there were half-way decent lugged huffy bikes in the '80s. this is not one of them.

the real us olympic team huffys would have been built by mike melton, right?

here's a melton-huffy from team lowrey's

It was listed for close to $2k there for a while. Should be around a $100 soon.

To paraphrase John Prine:
"And your flag decal(s) won't get you into Olympic and Colorado history Heaven any more."

Figures that it's located in Colorado because the seller is high.

I have a sport touring geometry Melton, and the seat stay/top tube/seat tube detail matches the rig posted by Wallymann. Also, the contact patches between the seat stay ends and the seat tube lug are almost impossibly small. The fork crown lug on mine has been trimmed rather tight, with very little wetted area to the fork legs, which corresponds with the posted Lowrey's bike.

As far as I know, he didn't build TIGed bikes.
